Alicia Framis invites us to write down our fears and leave them behind in her new exhibition: 'Leave here your fears'

Alicia Framis

This Friday 29 April, Alicia Framis presents the exhibition 'Leave here your fears' at the Galería Juana de Aizpuru in Madrid, which can be visited from 29 April to June 2022.

The exhibition revolves around a monumental interactive sculpture, 'Leave here your fears', a large mailbox with a hybrid shape, between a diamond and a pyramid, made of stainless steel. This mailbox functions as a catalyst because in it we can enter notes written anonymously, where we describe our fears and leave them behind.

Framis once again resorts to the concept of the letterbox as she did in another of her major works, 'Letters to Heaven', which was shown in Central Park in New York, and is now exhibited as a permanent piece in Long Island (Massachusetts, USA) and Utrecht (Holland).

The exhibition will also include the series 'Los Insomníacos', fifteen paintings made with the fluorescent tape used in aeroplanes to show passengers the way in the dark. The pieces revolve around the theme of insomnia caused by the pandemic and by the moment of global uncertainty we are living in.

The show is completed by 'Skins', several works made from military tents that constitute a plea against the war in Ukraine.
