CaixaForum Madrid celebrates Easter with outstanding activities for children
The "la Caixa" Foundation presents at CaixaForum Madrid the programme it has designed for Easter, where, coinciding with the school holidays, the cultural centre will host different proposals for the whole family and especially for the youngest so that they can learn and enjoy themselves at the same time.
The show 'Lion skin, giraffe tail' is a production of The Three Keatons under the direction of Moisès Maicas, and will be performed on March 29th, 30th and 31st and April 1st at 12 noon. It tells the story of Kumbà and Mamadou, who live in a small jungle village in Senegal. The story is an allegory of the birth festivals and the names of the Mandingas. This show combines the fantastic background of the story with the reality of the Mandinka people in their traditional habitat, which is still alive today.
The cultural centre will also host two workshops designed to stimulate the creativity, imagination and learning of children. In 'Electromusical Vegetables', children will discover how to create basic electrical circuits without the use of wires, and will be able to work with digital musical instruments in which forks, bananas or lettuces will allow them to learn how a sensor and MIDI instruments work. It will be held from March 29 to April 4 and from April 10 to 11, at 11 a.m.; and on Wednesday, March 31, at 12.30 p.m.
On the other hand, the 'Qué tramas? workshop is designed so that, through monochromatic patterns of repeating shapes, they can discover the fun world of wefts. With just one colour and combining lines and shapes, they will experiment with the multiple expressive possibilities of lines. This workshop, although it has been held since last January, will have a special timetable during Easter Week: from March 27th to April 3rd, from 11am to 2pm and from 4pm to 8pm, and on Sunday April 4th, from 11am to 2pm. In addition, on Wednesday 31 March there will be two microconcert sessions by Paco Soto and Enriquito, in flamenco jazz style, and on Thursday 1 April there will be another microconcert by Manouche Au Lait.
And to complete the special programme for these dates, within the family and educational space there will be a workshop titled En tus manos está (It's in your hands), a proposal for families to experiment with structures and pieces based on the work of Jean Prouvé, to create furniture and living spaces. Think, choose, combine and experiment with all the possibilities offered by these ingenious and simple elements that revolutionised 20th century architecture and design. This activity will be open until June 13, Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays, on public holidays and non-teaching days, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In order to facilitate access and improve the visitor's experience, the cultural centre recommends that you plan your visit in advance by booking or buying tickets on the website. From the website, you can check the availability of tickets by time slot and thus guarantee access to the hall, which currently has limited seating capacity in accordance with health and safety measures.
The centre also has an educator service during the Easter holidays, with the presence of educators in the hall available to the public to answer any questions or comments about the exhibition. This service will operate from Monday to Thursday from 11am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm, and from Friday to Sunday and public holidays with uninterrupted opening hours.
Likewise, all shows, screenings and activities will be subject to the hygiene, safety and seating capacity measures laid down in the official protocols.
