Casa Arabe reopens its doors on Monday 8th June in Córdoba and Madrid

From next Monday 8th June, Casa Árabe will once again open its installations in Córdoba and Madrid. The reopening will be carried out in accordance with the measures and protocols developed by the health authorities to mitigate the effects of the coronavirus in each one of the cities, according to the de-escalation phase they are in.

Thus, Casa Árabe will make its facilities available to the public, ensuring the protection of all its professionals and visitors in strict compliance with the regulations adopted by the Government and the different Public Administrations.

In this sense, the use of masks and hydro-alcoholic gel will be compulsory, the capacity and interpersonal distance will be controlled and an exhaustive daily cleaning of the facilities will be carried out, with an additional reinforcement once the programmed activities are finished.

In the case of Cordoba, among other activities, the program that was suspended with the confinement and that includes will be resumed:

• Training workshops for young people and adults on archaeology and history, by the hand of Sextomario.
• Cycle of master classes: Origins of Arab-Flamenco fusion, by the dancer Carolina Prior.
• Cycle of films from the United Arab Emirates.
• Guided visits to the "Casa Mudéjar".
• Concert with the Egyptian composer and guitarist Ali Khattab.
• Exhibition: "When drawing heritage becomes art", by the group Urban Sketchers Córdoba. 
• Exhibition: "The Moroccans. Photographs by Leila Alaoui".
• Cycle of conferences: "Islamophobia. Challenges in the 21st century".  

In Madrid, two exhibitions are opened to the public:

• The first of them, "No Limits. Artistic (De) Construction of Borders" was due to open on March 11, so it is an absolute novelty in the city. The exhibition brings together the work of 16 young Jordanian artists, both men and women, and has the collaboration of the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. In addition, the exhibition catalogue, a bilingual edition in Spanish and Arabic, is available to the public for free.
• The second exhibition that we make available to the public is "Gods of the Border", a project by the artist Clara Carvajal that explores the visual memory of Lebanon.

At the same time, our online activities continue: we have opened the registration for the intensive and semi-intensive summer courses of the Arab Language Center, and the virtual exhibition "Pop Art vs Covid", the exhibition of Arab calligraphy by Pablo Casado, and the cycle of interviews "Living Islam in times of pandemic", and on June 10th we will interview the Moroccan writer Abdellah Taia.
