The Círculo de Americanistas de Málaga is created

In June 2021, the Governing Board of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Malaga was informed of the proposal to create the Casa América project in Malaga. After considering its purpose, scope and importance, the Board agreed, with a positive assessment, to promote and encourage this cultural and social initiative within the annual Action Plan of the identity for the next five years.
In order to carry forward the implementation of this important line of action and in accordance with article 26 of its Statutes, the Economic Society agreed to create a Working Committee to proceed with the development of the functions entrusted and the first activities developed in 2021 and those programmed for 2022. Likewise, in March 2022, it created the Círculo de Americanistas de Málaga, which will act as an advisory and consulting body to the Working Committee for the design and execution of the Society's programme of cultural and academic activities of Casa América Málaga.

The Círculo de Americanistas will advise and be consulted in the organisation of the themes of congresses, meetings, seminars, conferences and any other activity of a cultural, educational or scientific nature; in the development of academic programmes concerning Latin American culture; in the establishment of channels to disseminate the current state of knowledge of the Social and Human Sciences, Literature and Art in Latin America; in the dissemination of scientific and artistic creations in Malaga and Andalusia; in cooperation with Latin American associations and institutes in Spain and other countries; in the creation of grants to facilitate research work on Malaga's relations with America as well as in the dissemination of works by Malaga and Andalusian writers in Latin America.
With this initiative, the Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Malaga takes up again one of its historical functions and purposes of relations with the countries of Latin America and their human and territorial reality. Recovering this historical rapprochement and relationship in the third decade of the 21st century is a social, economic and cultural requirement for the city and province of Malaga. There are numerous new elements and challenges that make it necessary to establish this platform-bridge (Casa América Málaga) with the new realities experienced by Latin American countries and the Hispanic communities of the United States and Canada.

The Economic Society of Friends of the Country of Malaga aims to be the institutional space that provides this framework for relations and knowledge of what is happening today in both areas, within the complex reality of the contemporary world. Malaga, to its cultural, university and technological function, must add the strengths of its economy and its extensive diplomatic/consular network of Latin American countries, the value of the Spanish Film Festival, the young and innovative University and the thousands of Latin American residents who live and work here with a culture that is as diverse as it is enriching.
The Círculo de Americanistas de Málaga, the first in the province and one of the few in Andalusia and Spain, can contribute with its advice and assistance to Casa América Málaga to the promotion of cultural, educational, artistic, touristic, sporting and commercial relations of the city and province of Málaga, as well as of Andalusia, with all the countries of America.
