Leila Slimani concludes her Moroccan trilogy with “I Will Take the Fire”

Following the presentation, there will be a book sale and signing starting on 11 September, with translation from French to Spanish available

In 2021, the Three Cultures Foundation hosted the presentation of El país de los otros (The Country of Others), the first instalment of Leila Slimani's Moroccan trilogy. Three years later, the award-winning Franco-Moroccan author returns to our headquarters to present the eagerly awaited conclusion to this ambitious literary saga.

In collaboration with the publisher Cabaret Voltaire, the Foundation is organising the presentation of Me llevaré el fuego (Cabaret Voltaire, 2025), the third and final instalment of the Moroccan trilogy El país de los otros, written by Leila Slimani, one of the most prominent figures on the current literary scene, on 2 October at 7 p.m.

During the event, the Franco-Moroccan writer will talk with Seville-based author Irene Reyes-Noguerol in a dialogue that will delve into the central themes of the work: memory, identity, freedom and intergenerational transmission.

In Me llevaré el fuego, Slimani culminates an ambitious saga inspired by her family history, spanning from 1950s Morocco to the present day. As in previous instalments, the author offers a lucid and committed view of the role of women, colonialism, the desire to belong and the conflict between tradition and modernity.
