More than 640 people join in the participatory choral video Viva la Vida organized by the "la Caixa" Foundation
For the first time, the "la Caixa" Foundation has launched a digital participatory activity to the sound of Coldplay's Viva la Vida theme, which has achieved a record number of participants of more than 640 people of different ages and from all over Spain, as well as some international participants.
After launching the call for the #YoCanto project between the 4th and 13th of May, a total of 645 people between the ages of 14 and 82 have been encouraged to participate in this choral experience, the final result of which will be released this Thursday at 7pm via Facebook Live. The launch of the video, which adds up to hundreds of recordings, most of which are from people between 40 and 60 years old, comes in the midst of de-climbing after the confinement.
The project has meant the transfer for the first time to the digital field of the participative musical activity of the "la Caixa" Foundation, which has a long tradition of more than 25 years and will continue to deepen in this line of work in the future without replacing the face-to-face concerts. The main challenge of the initiative has been to unify the voices and movements of the more than 640 participants so that they sound like a choir and achieve a coherent and dynamic aesthetic. This has been possible thanks to the meticulous work of the music producer Oriol Padrós, and the result of an attractive and dynamic production by the audiovisual creator Merlí Borrell, after four weeks of intense work to make this proposal.
Daniel Anglès signed the artistic direction of this project, while Gerard Ibáñez was in charge of the musical direction. Together with Oriol Padrós and Merlí Borrell, they will participate in the Facebook Live that will call all the participants of the initiative, who have individually followed detailed instructions for the recording of the voice and image from their homes.
Most of the amateur participants come from Catalonia, with 240 of the total, and from Madrid, with 152, followed by those from Andalusia, 66, and the Valencian Community, with 50. To a lesser extent, people from Aragon, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla León, Extremadura, Galicia, Murcia, Navarra and the Basque Country have also joined the project. In addition, some participants have joined from Germany, Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands and France. With this initiative, the "la Caixa" Foundation wants to launch a message of solidarity and optimism in the midst of the post-confinement period and encourage society to overcome this new stage with a song to life through music.
