One, Two, Free... Folk! The folk train arrives at CaixaForum Madrid

La Caixa

The "la Caixa" Foundation presented One, Two, Free... Folk! in Madrid Caxaforum, a new musical show where family audiences will be able to enjoy the journey of a group of street musicians who meet in a train station in the United States. The musical proposal is a compilation of classic Anglo-Saxon folk songs by authors such as Peter Seeger, Bob Dylan or Simon and Garfunkel, with covers in soul, reggae or country styles and different languages. In this work, musicians claim universal values such as peace and harmony, human rights and the duties of people as well as respect for our planet.

The show, highly recommended for families with children aged 5 and over, can be seen at CaixaForum Madrid on December 19 at 17:30 and December 20 at 12:00.

A participative show

One, Two, Free... Folk! is a musical journey through different historical moments of the 20th century. A train that travels freely, without a destination, to share messages, rhythms and melodies, but also the concerns and desires of the people and with the people around them.

Following the spirit of the avant-garde theatre productions of the 20th century, One, Two, Free... Folk! is a musical show allegedly improvised. The musical will show live sound tests, vocal tuning and sound techniques and will propose active participation to the audience, singing, dancing and going on stage to be part of the choral singing of the company. One of the objectives of this show is total communion between the stalls and the stage.

The set represents the platform of a train station from the beginning of the 20th century, and the architectural elements and furniture are represented by a video projection. The central window of the station serves as a cyclorama to project landscapes and graphics, such as postcards and train tickets. In terms of acoustics, the station has the classic elements of the environment, such as steam whistles, bells and, above all, the voice of the station manager.

Suggestions to the whole family

One, Two, Free... Folk! forms part of the family and school programme that the "la Caixa" Foundation has set up in its CaixaForum centres and with which, throughout the school year, the entity will offer innovative cultural proposals that include music, dance, puppets, plays and poetic fables aimed at a family audience.

This programme, unique in the city and which is characteristic of CaixaForum as a cultural centre, aims to enable children and their families to enjoy a wide variety of quality shows. An opportunity for families to make the most of their free time at weekends by learning and having fun.
