Óscar Vara presents his new book "The Future of the Old World", published by Ariel, in which he explains the world geopolitical map with an eye on Spain and Europe as a reference and paying special attention to areas such as the Mediterranean, Asia and Latin America.

In this concise synthesis of contemporary European geopolitics, Óscar Vara clarifies the challenges, opportunities and needs of the European Union to once again become a global geopolitical power, comparable to that of the United States and China, and, above all, competitive.

This research cannot be done without taking into account the shock of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and what it means for the configuration of the geopolitical world of the future, so this conflict and its ramifications for the state of the world order, especially the reaction and coercion of European states, are duly analysed.

Óscar Vara also breaks down the imperfections of the European Union in an international framework, showing clear flaws in its political and diplomatic methodology and questioning the foundations on which it is built. Through this analysis, the author has succeeded in offering us a work of acute introspection that debates the paths European geopolitics could take after the beginning of this turbulent decade.
