Three Cultures Foundation: more than 60 proposals to alleviate confinement

The Three Cultures Foundation is already working on the calendar of events that will mark the return to what has been called the "new normality", in which it will once again open its doors to the public to offer various activities, while maintaining all the safety and prevention measures established by the health authorities.
In the meantime, the Foundation continues to offer a very varied programme that has been developed since the state of alarm was decreed under the name of 'Three Cultures with you', a range of cultural, educational and informative activities of an offsite nature that emerged with the aim of making the confinement that our society faced at that time more bearable and which have been disseminated through the website of this institution: www.tresculturas.org
From then until now, in little more than two months, more than 60 proposals of diverse nature have been made available to the public, with a high cultural content, but without forgetting the formative and divulging component. Thus, for example, the traditional Film Tuesdays have been maintained, in which films have been shared for online viewing such as The Alhambra at Stake, Counter Tide, Lost Steps, a selection from the mk2 Corto Fest and Gurumbé. Songs from your black memory, thanks to the important involvement of its directors, who have also recorded messages for the audience from their homes. During this month, the film screenings have been grouped in the cycle 'Morocco-Spain: Common looks', organized in collaboration with the African Film Festival FCAT.
Another of the strong points of the cultural offer has been music, with live concerts by artists such as the Moroccan Jihane Bougrine or Saki, who performed from their respective homes a repertoire created expressly for the audience of the Three Cultures. On other occasions, musicians such as Paco Soto or the members of the group Hamid Ajbar have recorded a message for the audience encouraging them to enjoy concerts that have been shared from the Foundation.
Literature is also very present in this programme, with two different commitments: on the one hand, the periodic publication of reviews of new publications from the first quarter of 2020, and on the other hand, the launch of the book club called `Three with books at home', in which the work `The sky according to Google', by Marta Carnicero, has already been discussed, and where the book `They have always spoken for us', by Najat El Hachmi, a writer who will hold a meeting with her readers on the 27th at 6 pm, is currently being analysed.
Also very interesting are all those proposals to make as a family, such as puzzles inspired by the architecture of the headquarters of Three Cultures, the Hassan II Pavilion, or the sheets to color mosaics from the geometric patterns of Andalusian designs, and that the Foundation shares by courtesy of Manuel Martinez Vela, speaker at the Cátedra al-Andalus session in March, which unfortunately could not be held because of the state of alarm.
Two virtual 360-degree exhibitions, a new section on the Arabic and Hebrew languages called 'The Rawi Corner', recordings of the cycle 'Great Capitals of the Medieval Islamic World', a children's theatre performance in the Arabic language, an online course on intercultural mediation, recipes from Moroccan gastronomy, mini-videos from the cycle 'Debates around the Mediterranean', the presentation of the new issue of the magazine Quaderns de la Mediterránia, three conferences about Ramadan and another one focused on Andalusian music are some of the activities that complete this programme.
One of the activities with the greatest acceptance of all the proposals put forward has been the consultancy service for immigrants on issues related to the state of alarm, aimed at resolving legal, employment and administrative doubts related to this exceptional situation. A public service initiative that resolved a hundred questions, many of them during the sessions broadcast live on the Three Cultures Facebook channel on 26 March, 2 and 8 April, which registered more than 16,400 views. Among the issues that raised the most doubts were those related to labour law issues, especially regarding dismissals resulting from the declaration of the State of Alarm and the ERTES provided in the Decree 8/2020 of 17 March, as well as the requirements for receiving unemployment benefit. Other topics have focused on administrative procedures and the telematic execution of procedures or the demand for information on obtaining documentation, the processing of files for foreigners, renewals and delegation of permissions.
Several queries have also been resolved regarding Moroccan university students who did not know how to proceed with regard to confinement or the doubts of some businessmen interested in moving business from Morocco to Spain.
In short, a very intense activity that has kept the Three Cultures Foundation close to its audience and open to new users, with an eye on that long-awaited moment when the cinema projectors are turned on again, the loudspeakers vibrate with the best music and culture returns to each corridor of the Hassan II Pavilion.
