Hasta 800.000 marroquíes saldrán beneficiados del nuevo acuerdo social con Estados Unidos
The Morocco-US Compact II social programme is progressing at an "encouraging" pace, Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah said on Monday. While the cooperation has been fruitful so far, Nadia Fettah stressed that involving the shareholders is decisive to finalise the other goals. The presentation of the implementation report of the Compact II cooperation programme, represented by the Millennium Challenge Account-Morocco Agency (MCA-Morocco), will be carried out with a view to ensuring the completion of the projects, on time and in compliance with the highest quality standards.
Speaking at the 13th session of the MCA-Morocco Agency's Strategic Orientation Council (COS) dedicated to the presentation of the implementation report of the Compact II cooperation programme, the minister said that this session is of particular interest as it is being held three months before the end of Compact II. Fettah also reiterated the government's commitment to capitalise on the substantial achievements to promote the sustainability of Compact II projects, whose objectives are in line with the high orientations of King Mohamed VI, on the development of human capital and land mobilisation for investment promotion.
Malika Laasri, director general of the MCA-Morocco agency, briefed the board members in detail on the progress of the implementation of the Compact II project since the last board meeting, and the prospect of completion by 31 March 2023, where she underlined the excellent financial performance of the institution, registering a participation rate of almost 93% and a disbursement of almost 80% compared to 87% and 50%, compared to the previous year.
On this occasion, he expressed satisfaction with the significant achievements, especially in the field of infrastructure works, with the completion of the rehabilitation of 78 secondary schools in the regions of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Marrakech-Safi and Fez-Mekinez, and the progress rate, ranging from 50 to 98%, of the rehabilitation works of the other 11 secondary schools in the region of Fez-Mekinez.
For her part, MCC's resident director in Morocco, Carrie Monahan, welcomed the mobilisation of the communities, local partners and ministries with which MCC is working to complete projects that will benefit more than 800,000 Moroccan citizens, young men and women, indicating that MCC will celebrate the joint achievements of the qualitative partnership with the Moroccan government under Compact II by the end of March 2023.
Malika Laasri reviews the most important results of the various Compact II activities. The "Secondary Education" event documented the expansion of the main data centre of the Department of National Education (DEN) and the opening of a new back-up data centre in Marrakech; the functional coverage of the "Massar" information system increased from 25 to 95% for the benefit of 5,100 educational and administrative staff in order to implement a training programme to equip the schools and units covered by DEN with various materials (IT, pedagogy, robotics, sports...).
As for the "vocational training" activity, it was highlighted by the completion of the main actions to support the operationalisation of the vocational training reform, namely the development of an institutional architecture and organisation of the SFP on Gender and Social Inclusion (GIS) and two platforms dedicated to the calculation of reference costs and actual costs of the vocational training sectors.
