ADSB teams up with Indra to equip the FA-400 offshore patrol vessel with advanced naval systems

The ADSB company of the EDGE Group, a regional leader in the design, construction, repair, maintenance, refit and conversion of military and commercial vessels, has formed a strategic partnership with Indra, a leading global defence and technology company based in Spain.
The alliance, backed by PULSE, the joint venture created by EDGE, the parent company of ADSB, and Indra, will equip ADSB's FA-400 offshore patrol vessel with Indra's advanced 3D radar, electronic defence systems to detect, locate, identify and analyse radar signals (R-ESM or Radar Electronic Support Measure) and communications (C-ESM or Communications- Electronic Support Measure) and anti-drone systems (C-UAS), which will significantly improve its operational effectiveness.
The agreement was signed by Ángel Escribano, executive president of Indra, and Khaled Al Zaabi, president of Platforms and Systems at EDGE and president of ADSB, within the framework of the Naval Defence Exhibition and Conference (NAVDEX 2025) being held in Abu Dhabi until 21 February.
In his speech, Khaled Al Zaabi said: ‘As a ship designed and built entirely in the UAE, the FA-400 reinforces our goal of having a portfolio of world-class platforms, fully aligned with the needs of modern defence. The integration of Indra's advanced electronic and radar systems enhances the capabilities of the FA-400, ensuring its resilience and adaptability to meet a range of operational challenges’.
Ángel Escribano added: ‘Indra brings decades of experience in the development of high-performance defence technologies, with its 3D radars, electronic defence systems and anti-drone systems (C-UAS) widely recognized for their proven capabilities in the most challenging operational environments. The integration of our proven systems in the ADSB FA-400 reflects a shared vision to raise naval defence standards and introduce a new level of sophistication in warships built in the UAE.’
The FA-400 offshore patrol vessel, equipped with Indra's advanced radar, electronic warfare and counter-UAS solutions, is on display at the NAVDEX dock, offering attendees an in-depth look at its capabilities. Designed and built entirely in the UAE, the patrol vessel demonstrates exceptional operational versatility, reinforcing its role as a strategic asset in modern naval operations. The suite of integrated naval systems is being supplied through PULSE, the Abu Dhabi-based joint venture between EDGE and Indra, further strengthening local industrial expertise and capability development.
