Africa Morocco Link (AML) has launched a new RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) service connecting the port of Tangier Med in Morocco with that of Algeciras in Spain. As Le Matin reports, this system aims to support Moroccan exports, reinforce international road transport and speed up trade between Europe and Morocco.

This service is dedicated to the transport of unaccompanied units (semi-trailers), as well as other private vehicles, agricultural machinery, construction machinery and any rolling machinery, complying with the technical specifications imposed by this mode of transport.

It is expected to have a daily frequency, with one departure per day from both ports. Over time, AML plans to gradually increase the number of daily rotations depending on demand.

This service will be provided by the vessel Kaunas, with a capacity of 96 units. This vessel is particularly suitable for the transport of trucks with drivers, at the request of the port authorities, especially during periods of high international road traffic, thus allowing optimal management of loading and unloading operations in the two ports.

The launch of the RoRo service is part of the new dynamic of AML, which has already reinforced its offer this summer with the launch of a new fast ferry line Tangier Ville-Tarifa.

With the introduction of this RoRo service, AML continues to diversify and enrich its service offering to better meet the specific needs of different market segments. In addition, this new service complements existing solutions and offers carriers a competitive and suitable alternative for the transport of goods.

As Ian Hampton, Managing Director of Africa Morocco Link, explained, this new RoRo service between Tanger Med and Algeciras ‘complements this route by offering both accompanied and unaccompanied units’. ‘With this RoRo offering, AML offers an efficient solution tailored to the growing needs of our freight customers. This launch demonstrates our continued commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction,’ he concluded.
