Apícola de Tiedra, winner of the EmprendES Award

Winners of the EmprendES Awards
The Carlos Moro Foundation of Matarromera has awarded the Valladolid-based company the EmprendES Award, worth 40,000 euros, whose main objective is to recognise self-employed workers who contribute to economic development in rural areas of Spain

Miel 79, a product of Apícola de Tiedra, S. L., beat two other finalists, NaturSnacks and Vinok, to win the 40,000 euro cheque awarded by the EmprendES Prize, which is organised and coordinated by the Carlos Moro Foundation of Matarromera, together with the PwC Foundation and the support of the MAPFRE Foundation.

The three best candidates had previously received personalised advice from the organisation with the aim of optimising, strengthening and developing their projects in areas such as finance, marketing and e-commerce.

The jury, chaired by Carlos Moro, praised the company's business model, which has already proven itself in the market, as well as its growth potential and the composition of its strong team, which has already defined a very precise strategy for its internationalisation.

Miel 79, the winning candidate, is a product of excellent quality, the result of a father's hobby and the entrepreneurial vision of his children, who have managed to combine tradition and innovation. They offer products derived from the beehive, producing lavender honey using the resources of their land in Tiedra (Valladolid), where they share the exciting world of beekeeping at La Caseta de la Miel.

Santiago Barrenechea, president of the PWC Foundation, in whose skyscraper in Madrid the award ceremony was held, highlighted ‘the importance of the EmprendES Awards in the economic and business development of rural areas’, while praising the collaboration with the Carlos Moro Foundation of Matarromera ‘for promoting excellence, talent and perseverance among entrepreneurs’.

Carlos Moro himself stated that ‘these projects not only represent a model of entrepreneurship and sustainability, but are also living examples of how innovation can transform and revitalise our rural communities’. This statement was echoed by Paloma Moro, patron of the Foundation, who emphasised that ‘these awards recognise and value the effort, courage, creativity and innovation of self-employed workers, who not only contribute to the economic development of their communities, but also generate employment and promote sustainability and entrepreneurship’.

With this fourth edition, the EmprendES Awards have now established themselves as a key platform for entrepreneurs and value creators in rural areas. As a measure to combat depopulation and promote sustainability, not only environmental but also social and economic, these awards seek to give visibility and support to initiatives that are candidates for reaching a higher level. In this way, the Carlos Moro Foundation of Matarromera reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability and business development in rural areas, and also announces that, starting with this edition, there will be two Social Runners-Up Prizes to reward the more human side of companies.
