ASCAME unites the Mediterranean and opens new economic horizons with Canada

Mediterranean Pavilion - ASCAME
The next edition of World of Travel, Trade & Taste Expo 2025 in Toronto will feature a Mediterranean Pavilion, an initiative jointly promoted by ASCAME, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Italy and Euromed Group

The Association of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) is taking a step forward to promote the Mediterranean worldwide and explore new avenues of economic cooperation.

Following the success of the first edition of the Mediterranean-Canada Business Forum held in October 2024 at MedaWeek Barcelona 2024, ASCAME is offering all its members and partners a new opportunity to strengthen their presence in the Canadian market. Through the Mediterranean Pavilion that ASCAME will set up at the World of Travel, Trade & Taste Expo 2025 on 30 and 31 May at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (Toronto, Canada), all of them will be able to establish business contacts, promote their services to Canadian companies and institutions, and attend various conferences and networking sessions to explore synergies.

This initiative, led by ASCAME in collaboration with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Italy and Euromed Group, is a strategic opportunity to establish new cooperation links between the Mediterranean region and Canada. With this objective in mind, a programme of conferences has been scheduled for the two days of the event, where experts from different industries and countries will share their perspectives on the possibilities for cooperation, potential and emerging sectors in which to invest, such as AI and IoT, and recommendations and examples of how to successfully access both markets. There will be a special session to explore synergies with the French-speaking market, which will be held thanks to the collaboration of the French-speaking, European and African Chambers of Commerce present in Canada, as well as various government agencies. This conference agenda will be complemented by several B2B meetings and sectoral presentations.

Coinciding with the Mediterranean Pavilion, ASCAME has organised a trade mission to Canada until 31 May with several meetings scheduled in three cities: Montreal from 23 to 25 May, Ottawa from 27 to 28 May and Toronto from 29 to 31 May. These meetings will be held between representatives of ASCAME and Canadian companies, institutions and investment and economic promotion agencies interested in exploring partnerships and avenues for collaboration with organisations in the Mediterranean region. Canadian CEOs and entrepreneurs from various sectors, ranging from tourism to the most innovative industries, have confirmed their participation in these meetings. Various chambers of commerce from North America, Europe and Africa will also be represented.

Both the Mediterranean Pavilion and the Canadian trade mission are part of ASCAME's new strategy to promote the Mediterranean around the world and explore new avenues of cooperation. According to Anwar Zibaoui, ASCAME's general coordinator, ‘the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce are united by the common goal of projecting the region's entrepreneurial dynamism and cultural diversity throughout the world under the umbrella of a brand that identifies us, sets us apart and makes us proud. He added: ‘Our goal is to enhance the unique character of the Mediterranean, i.e. to focus on the distinctive value of our region and offer meaningful references to consumers in Canada.’
