Ayesa awarded a 95 million euro project in Saudi Arabia
Ayesa, the world's leading provider of technology and engineering solutions, announces that it has won its largest ever contract in Saudi Arabia, worth 95 million euros, reports Smart Water Magazine.
The Kingdom's National Water Company (NWC), a key player in the water sector, has contracted the Spanish company to advise on the design of 190 cutting-edge, sustainable water projects that will improve both the quantity and quality of the resource.
This contract is part of NWC's commitment and efforts to provide safe and efficient water and sanitation with a planned investment of around 200 billion euros by 2030. This will be achieved through comprehensive water cycle infrastructure, including water treatment and sanitation processes for the supply of drinking water to its population.
The Spanish engineering leader will design major water infrastructure in four regions of the country: south, west, northwest and north. This comprehensive plan includes the construction of multiple water storage tanks to improve water supply reliability, along with the development of pumping stations, treatment plants, purification facilities and widespread distribution networks.
The planned capital expenditure for these projects amounts to approximately 5 billion euros. Ayesa will deliver the design of these water projects in addition to providing environmental services such as Environmental Impact Assessment and Ecological Assessments to the NWC during the bidding phase for the construction of the infrastructure. Ayesa will also take advantage of the most innovative technologies in water treatment, sustainable materials and measures to optimise energy use.
José Ramón Delgado, Ayesa's Country Manager in Saudi Arabia, highlighted the importance of the contract, stating that it "marks a historic milestone for the company, representing the largest water works design contract for Ayesa to date".
"This contract is an opportunity for transformational growth," he added, underlining Ayesa's positioning as a "global leader". "Leveraging the strengths and expertise of our engineering centres in various locations in Saudi Arabia, Spain, Ireland, Bahrain and India, this major win establishes Ayesa as a leading provider of engineering and technology services in the Middle East," he concluded.
