CAF - Latin American development bank - and the Network of Technological Institutes of the Valencian Community (REDIT) have signed a collaboration agreement which aims to promote business innovation and technological development in the countries of the south of the American continent.

The agreement will also promote the exchange and dissemination of information and methodologies; the generation of knowledge through research; the sharing of experiences between the various technology centres in CAF's shareholder countries; as well as the carrying out of training and dissemination activities and support for SMEs in their internationalisation projects and for access to cooperation funds.

José Antonio García Belaúnde, CAF's representative in Europe, stressed during the signing of the agreement that "this memorandum contributes to continuing to build bridges between Spain and Latin America in terms of cooperation. In this case, the aim is to generate practical knowledge that will help to improve the productivity of Latin American SMEs and that will also contribute to overcoming the crisis generated by the COVID-19".

For his part, Fernando Saludes, President of REDIT, stated that "the Network of Technology Institutes of the Valencia Region has decades of experience in supporting SMEs" and that "thanks to this new way of collaboration that we are formalising, this accumulated knowledge will serve to strengthen the business fabric and the quality of life of citizens in other latitudes, through the consolidation of production models based on knowledge, innovation and technology".

The memorandum signed by CAF and REDIT responds to the interest of both institutions in joining forces to promote cooperation between technology centres in Latin America and to generate knowledge through studies on industry and innovation.
