CaixaBank distributes more than 26,400 gifts to children in vulnerable situations.
CaixaBank has closed a new edition of the solidarity initiative "The Tree of Dreams", which has managed to deliver more than 26,400 Christmas gifts to children in vulnerable situations throughout Spain.
In this fifth edition of the program, CaixaBank has counted on the participation of thousands of employees, customers and members of the Volunteer program. For three weeks, 452 social entities coordinated the reception of the letters prepared by the children, the delivery of these to all the participants, as well as the management of the delivery of gifts through CaixaBank branches so that everyone could have a gift throughout the holidays.
With the more than 26,400 gifts distributed in this edition, the financial entity has surpassed the 96,000 gifts distributed throughout the initiative "The Tree of Dreams", whose first edition dates back to 2017. The entity's objective has focused on making the wishes of all the children linked to social entities that fight against child poverty in all the autonomous communities, such as those adhered to the CaixaProinfancia program of "la Caixa" Foundation, come true. Among the collaborating organizations are the Red Cross, Caritas, Secretariado Gitano and Save the Children, as well as the social services of numerous municipalities and small local entities.
Successful new collaboration with El Corte Inglés
For the fifth consecutive year, CaixaBank has been able to reach thousands of children in difficulty. In addition, in this edition, and for the first time, CaixaBank has also expanded its collaboration with El Corte Inglés.
As a result of the agreement between the two entities, El Corte Inglés has donated more than 400 gifts to the campaign which, channeled through the Red Cross, have gone to refugees in Spain who have not had the opportunity to write their letter.
Expectations exceeded thanks to territorial capillarity
The initiative has been able to exceed the expectations initially set thanks to the involvement of the entire territorial network of the bank.
CaixaBank has the largest commercial network in the financial sector in Spain, with more than 4,000 branches, and is present in 100% of the towns with more than 10,000 inhabitants and 94% of those with more than 5,000. This fact has allowed CaixaBank to consolidate one of the most important solidarity initiatives at this time of year.
CaixaBank, a benchmark in socially responsible banking
CaixaBank is an entity with a profoundly social vocation. As a result of the inheritance it has received, the bank, a benchmark in socially responsible banking, maintains an attitude of service to its customers and to society in general.
Thanks to its territorial capillarity, the CaixaBank branch network can support the "la Caixa" Foundation in its social work, detecting the needs of local social entities.
The collaboration between the two institutions makes it possible for thousands of small and medium-sized social solidarity organizations to access financial aid to carry out their projects.
In addition to supporting the distribution of financial aid from the "la Caixa" Foundation, CaixaBank Social Action promotes corporate volunteering through its Volunteer Program made up of active employees of the bank and its group, the "la Caixa" Foundation, retirees and early retirees of both organizations, as well as friends, family and customers.
In 2020, the initiative celebrated its fifteenth anniversary of solidarity work. In total, in the last year, around 4,600 committed people have been part of CaixaBank's active volunteering, participating in more than 4,250 solidarity activities.
CaixaBank's responsible action has been recognized by the main international organizations. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index ranks CaixaBank among the best banks in the world in terms of corporate responsibility. The international organization CDP, for its part, includes CaixaBank as a leading company in the fight against climate change. In addition, the United Nations has awarded its subsidiaries VidaCaixa and CaixaBank Asset Management the highest rating (A+) in sustainable investment.
