The Spanish-Algerian Circle of Commerce and Industry (CCIAE) offers its assistance to companies affected by the trade break with Spain announced by Algeria in response to the Spanish decision to support the autonomy initiative for Western Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty proposed by the Alaouite kingdom.

The CCIAE was concerned by the situation and has issued an official note setting out its position.

The official communiqué of the CCIAE is reproduced below:

Resulting from the meeting of the Executive Council of the CCIAE on 13 June 2022

The CCIAE is following the evolution of the current situation with great attention, always with the utmost respect for the sovereignty of political decisions on economic issues.
However, we remain in solidarity with all companies, Algerian, Spanish or mixed, affected by the new directives, and we are willing to return to normal operations as soon as possible in the common interest of all members.

Although the effects of these latest directives are problematic from a logistical and economic point of view, we remain convinced that exceptions could be considered to alleviate the burden in certain specific and urgent cases.

This is why a monitoring unit within the CCIAE is at the disposal of companies wishing to submit requests for derogations justified by the urgent nature of their requests. Our mission is to register all requests for a better reading, both from a global point of view and specific to each company (Mail from the monitoring unit: conectados@cciae.org).

Finally, we unanimously express the total respect of our Executive Board members for sovereign political decisions, in the hope that economic relations between Algerian and Spanish operators will once again flourish.
