Dakhla: an emerging investment hub in Africa

The Moroccan region is establishing itself as the new investment hub on the continent given the numerous opportunities it offers in different sectors 

Last Tuesday, the Dakhla Conference Centre hosted the third edition of the Promotion and Investment Days, held under the guidance of the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.  

During his speech, Mezzour stressed that Dakhla has been transformed into a real open investment workshop covering a wide range of sectors, including industry, agriculture, fisheries, tourism, logistics and aviation. 

In his address to officials, investors and elected representatives of the Oued Eddahab region, the Moroccan minister stressed that the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region is set to become a key driver for industrial development, not only at the national level, but also at the regional and continental levels. 

For his part, Chakib Laalj, president of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, said that the Oued Eddahab region is emerging as a real strategic economic centre, open to the entire African continent.

Laalaj explained that investments in the Dakhla region will contribute significantly to the growth and development of companies, given the numerous opportunities it offers. In this regard, Laalj stressed that the Oued Eddahab region currently has important sectors such as fisheries, aquaculture, agriculture and tourism. 

For his part, Yanja El Khattat, President of the Council of the Dakhla region, stressed that the decision of several countries to open consulates in Dakhla reinforces investment opportunities in the region, which is facilitated by Morocco's commitment to the socio-economic development of Africa. On this point, he recalled the initiative launched by Mohammed VI to facilitate access to the Atlantic Ocean for the Sahel countries.

The Dakhla-Ued Eddahab region, in addition to being the largest in Morocco, is also the region that has made the greatest progress in terms of human development, thanks to the stability of the Kingdom and its rapid progress in all sectors. 

The activities of this third edition of the Promotion and Investment Days, held in the province of Dakhla, attracted numerous investors, officials and parliamentarians, highlighting the natural and economic potential of Dakhla while exploring the various investment opportunities in the most promising sectors of the region.
