The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) established itself in 2021 as one of the most successful companies worldwide due to the large number of awards received at national, regional and global level.

The UAE entity won 60 awards last year, along with two Guinness World Records, as noted by the official Emirati news agency WAM.

DEWA now accumulates a total of 383 awards from 2015 to the end of last year, 67 of which were local, another 67 regional in the Middle East area and 249 global.

Five of these awards achieved in 2021 were presented by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the Dubai Government Excellence Programme Awards. Meanwhile, the Sheikh Khalifa Award of Excellence in the Elite Category in 2021 also stands out locally.

Most striking, however, are the 2 Guinness World Records received in part thanks to the Jebel Ali water and power generation facility, which is the world's largest natural gas generation plant on a single site. The facility has an electrical generating capacity of 9,547 MW. Meanwhile, the other world record was held by the world's first 3D printing laboratory, DEWA's Robotics and Drone Laboratory, located within the Research and Development (R&D) Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum Solar Park. In this regard, DEWA is seeking to set two new records for the world's tallest solar tower at 262.44 metres and the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant of 700 megawatts in the fourth phase of the Solar Park.

Saeed Mohammed al-Tayer, CEO of DEWA, highlighted the work done by the Emirati state-owned company. Al-Tayer highlighted the efforts made by the company to reach these achievements and pointed out that this showed Dubai's profile as a benchmark for the future and new technologies applied to the urban environment. For the CEO, DEWA has become a benchmark in business development and in the application of the highest standards and practices of excellence in the work it does, as reported by WAM.

DEWA is one of the largest companies in the Gulf; the Emirati company has been in operation for 30 years and has experienced great growth with important projects such as the Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum Solar Park, one of the largest solar parks in the world, or the Space-D Programme, which aims to improve the operational efficiency of electricity and water networks, including the use of Emirati technology satellites. DEWA has managed over time to become one of the best utilities in the world. Its services are used by more than one million people in the city of Dubai alone, meeting the demand for water and electricity.

DEWA recently launched the largest Initial Public Offering in the Middle East, Europe and Africa, which was a business milestone.
