Dubai Chamber of Commerce membership increases by 55%
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has declared a 55% increase in its membership during April 2022. During this month, 3,056 companies joined the chamber, bringing the total membership to 300,000 companies. This record membership makes the Dubai Chamber of Commerce the largest in the world.
The increase in the Chamber's membership is a reflection of the strong position Dubai now finds itself in, having positioned itself as a centre of commerce and a competitive market enhancer by attracting new companies and embracing innovation.
During the past year, the value of exports and re-exports of member companies of this organisation amounted to 20.2 billion AED, an increase of 16.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, when revenues of 17.3 billion AED were recorded.
Commenting on the strong figures, Abdul Aziz al-Ghurair, the president of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, said that the figures reflect the organisation's efforts to encourage businesses and increase their competitiveness levels. In addition to serving as an engine for Dubai's economic growth in all sectors and positioning the emirate as a global business hub.
"Dubai Chambers is a strategic and effective partner in driving comprehensive economic development in the Emirate. We are now in the process of developing and launching several new initiatives designed to improve the ease of doing business in Dubai, remove trade barriers and enable companies in Dubai to tap into a wealth of growth opportunities in a promising market, while expanding our efforts to attract multinational companies and high-potential start-ups from abroad," said Abdul Aziz Ghurair, as reported by Emirati news agency WAM.
These figures obtained in the first four months of 2022 reflect the development that Dubai is experiencing thanks to the work being carried out by the Chamber. The efforts to bring new companies and, above all, to bring new opportunities to the table for the country's economy have boosted innovation and competition in companies. As a result, the Chamber's member companies have facilitated trade between Dubai and other states, with the aim of meeting the needs of the community and to enhance the global expansion and establishment of its members.
Certificates of origin issued by the Chamber of Commerce also increased during the first months of 2022 to 178,654 certificates, a growth of 7.1% compared to the same period in 2021.
Dubai Chamber president and CEO Hamad Buanim highlighted the growth of the organisation's membership, and positioned it as an enhancer of economic competitiveness. Buanim also highlighted the role of Expo 2020 Dubai and the positive economic impact it has had on the country.
