Emirates airline expands limited passenger flights to seven cities
The Emirates airline is extending limited passenger flights on Monday to Jakarta, Manila, Taipei, Chicago, Tunis, Algiers and Kabul, it said in a press release available on its website. The company had already recovered last week the routes to five European cities (London, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels and Zurich) with preventive measures to avoid the spread of coronavirus. Magazines and printed materials have been removed from the planes, the packaging of the food rations served on board has been modified and all equipment will be subjected to cleaning and disinfection processes after each trip.
The new services are intended to make it easier for residents and visitors who wish to return home, the press release explains. Passengers will be able to book their tickets directly on Emirates.com. Only citizens of the destination country and those who meet the requirements of each country will be able to use the airline's services. With the increase in services and flights outside Dubai, Emirates has resumed operations at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport. Customers are required to follow all health and safety measures required by the Emirates authorities and the country of destination.
The company has informed that they will not be able to choose seats through online check-in. Chauffeur and longue services will not be available at any of the destinations. Cabin baggage will not be accepted on these flights. Carry-on items permitted in the cabin will be limited to laptops, bags, briefcases or baby items.
The remaining baggage must be checked in, and Emirates will add the hand baggage allowance to the customers' checked baggage allowance. The airline explains in its statement that passengers will be required to apply distance guidelines to other people during their journey and wear their own masks when at the airport and on board the aircraft.
Passengers must arrive at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport to check in and pass through security about three hours before departure. Emirates check-in desks will only process passengers with confirmed reservations at the above destinations. All of the company's aircraft will undergo enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes in Dubai after each trip.
