The Emirati company is strongly committed to the industrial and port complex in the north of Morocco

Emirates Logistics se instala en el puerto de Tánger Med

Emirates Logistics has had a new operational centre in the Tanger Automotive City free zone since Friday 10 June. The establishment of the Emirati company has been welcomed by the authorities of the industrial park as well as by the governments of the United Arab Emirates and Morocco, which have supervised the negotiations for the company's arrival in Tangier. Emirates Logistics' entry into Tangier is part of the company's international expansion plan, backed by a 30-year agreement reached with the Moroccan government.

A welcome and inauguration ceremony attended by the Moroccan Minister of Economy, Nadia Fettah, and her Emirati counterpart Abdullah bin Touq al Marri, concluded the installation of Emirates Logistics on the Tangier Med industrial site.

According to statements by UAE Minister Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, reported by the MAP agency, the arrival of Emirates Logistics in Tangier is a "reflection of the depth and strength of relations between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates", in addition to having described the installation of the company in Morocco as an important attraction for foreign investment in the country.

Still according to the Emirati minister, the port of Tangier has been chosen for its geographical location, key to logistics and the transport of goods.

"This region has an important geographical location as a key link between Africa and Europe, in addition to its state-of-the-art infrastructure, stressing that these factors have made the North of the Kingdom one of the most important regions in the world, particularly in the logistics and industrial fields," added the UAE minister during the event.

According to the head of the port authority of Tangier, Mehdi Tazi Riffi, the Emirati company has, since Friday, a plot of 14,500 square metres in the industrial park. With this new company, the potential of the port of Tangier Med continues to grow by leaps and bounds. In recent years, the industrial port of Tangier Med has become one of the leading ports in the Mediterranean in terms of industrial container transit, in competition with the ports of Valencia and Algeciras, according to data from the Shipping Council. It is connected with 167 ports in up to 60 countries.

Activity in the largest Moroccan port is frenetic, and so it has proved. According to a report in the daily l'Economiste, a few days after the opening of the Emirates Logistics operations centre, the company has already acquired an annexe in the industrial park, as the first area is already saturated with work.

Emirates Logistics began operating in Morocco in 2016, when it opened its first operations centre in Casablanca, the country's economic capital. According to the information provided on its website, it employs 350 workers in Morocco. In Tangier, it offers a 24/7 logistics service for finished products, raw materials and spare parts for industrial companies thanks to a strong workforce of 100 employees. According to information gathered by Morocco World News, the operations centre has a capacity for 15,000 pallets of cargo spread over its 14 docks that allow the transit of 80 heavy trucks per day.
