Falcon Capital formalises its green hydrogen project in Dakhla
Within the framework of the Morocco Hydrogen Offer, the green hydrogen project launched by Falcon Capital in the city of Dakhla, on an area of 150,446 ha, represents a real local and international milestone that opens the way to a sustainable energy future, according to a company statement.
Called "White Dunes", Falcon Capital Dakhla's ambitious project aims to produce the most competitive green hydrogen on a global scale. The aim is to reach a capacity of 10 GW in wind energy, 7 GW in photovoltaic energy and 8 GW in electrolysers, making the region a major hub for renewable energy production.
To implement this project, the Moroccan company will benefit, thanks to a key partnership linking the two entities, from the expertise of HDF Energy, which is also involved as co-developer of the project. It is worth mentioning that HDF Energy is a renowned player specialising in the development of hydrogen infrastructures and the design of powerful fuel cells.
This strategic partnership with HDF Energy, recognised for its industrial track record in hydrogen infrastructure development, will enable Falcon Capital Dakhla to benefit from crucial support for the realisation of this large-scale project.
In his statement, Majid Slimani, founder and chairman of Falcon Capital Dakhla, highlighted the investment of almost two years in the feasibility study, the initial design of the project and the assessment of the environmental and social aspects of the region. "We have deployed significant means, including environmental survey measures, to map the sensitive areas of fauna and flora in the region, as well as installed a measuring mast to achieve the preliminary design of the project," Slimani said.
For his part, Anas Belmamoun, the managing partner of Falcon Capital Dakhla, said that this project will contribute significantly to shaping the future of green energy in the North African country, thanks to the favourable conditions of Dakhla which is characterised by winds as a favourable means of wind energy production.
Through the "White Dunes" project, Made in Morocco in the field of green hydrogen marks a significant step, the results of which will not only have a local dimension by generating stable jobs for the population of southern Morocco, but will also have an international impact with a view to exporting, especially with the Kingdom's new strategy that aims to strengthen Morocco's Atlantic coast from the Sahara, by investing in a green and sustainable economy.
It is worth mentioning that the report on public property mobilised for investment, which accompanies the 2024 Finance Bill, identified the Falcon Capital Dakhla project as a unit for the production of green hydrogen, over an overall area of 150,446 ha. The total value of this project is 10 billion euros with the long-term creation of 350 jobs.
