In the general ranking of the consultancy Brand Finance, China's State Grid, ahead of Italy's Enel and France's EDF

Iberdrola, Endesa, Naturgy and Siemens Gamesa, among the 50 most valuable energy companies in the world in 2023

In the general ranking of the consultancy Brand Finance, China's State Grid, ahead of Italy's Enel and France's EDF, is the strongest and most valuable energy brand in the world, with a value of 58,700 million dollars. 

Iberdrola, Endesa, Naturgy and Siemens Gamesa are among the 50 most valuable brands in the global energy sector, in a ranking led once again this year by China's State Grid and compiled by the consultancy Brand Finance. 

Specifically, the energy company led by Ignacio Sánchez Galán maintains its eighth place in the sector's top ten, with a brand value of around 4.1 billion euros, after an 11% increase in value. 

Endesa, the second Spanish energy company by brand value, is in 27th place in the Brand Finance ranking, after losing ten positions compared to 2022 and registering a 5% decrease in its brand value, while Naturgy is in 28th place, after falling seven positions, despite increasing its brand value by 4%. 

Meanwhile, Siemens Gamesa has joined the ranking this year, ranking 33rd. As a leading producer of wind turbines, the group's inclusion in the list highlights the growing importance of renewable energy sources in the energy industry. 

State Grid leads for another year 

In the overall ranking, China's State Grid, ahead of Italy's Enel and France's EDF, is the world's strongest and most valuable energy brand, with a value of $58.7 billion. It also has the highest Sustainability Perception score and value. 

Germany's RWE is also the fastest growing energy brand, up 142%, thanks to the huge growth of German brands. 

Chinese solar brands light up the energy ranking

The managing director of Iberia (Spain, Portugal) and South America at Brand Finance, Pilar Alonso Ulloa, pointed out that brands from countries such as Germany, which have stopped importing gas to Russia, "have increased their value". 

Meanwhile, she indicated that Spanish brands have experienced a 2022 marked by the energy crisis and difficulties in global supply chains. "Iberdrola is, of the Spanish brands in the sector, the one that has seen the greatest increase in brand value," she said.
