Iberdrola, the first European energy company to obtain Europrivacy data protection certification for digital contracting
Iberdrola has reached a new milestone in its commitment to data protection and digital transparency by becoming the first European energy company to obtain the European Data Protection Seal, Europrivacy.
Europrivacy is the first certification system approved by the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) to act as an official European Data Protection Seal, in accordance with Article 42 (5) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). It is recognised by all Member States of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). Europrivacy certification has been awarded to Iberdrola Clientes España, Curenergía and Iberdrola Clientes Portugal for the processing of personal data in digital contracting processes, including browsing the corporate website, interacting with the chatbot and email communications.
This seal certifies that, in the context of the certification assessment objectives, the organisations comply with the highest standards for protecting the rights and freedoms of individuals in the processing of their personal data.
This recognition reinforces Iberdrola's commitment to the privacy of its customers, ensuring that their data is processed with the utmost security, transparency and responsibility, as part of a responsible, ethical and rights-respecting digital strategy.
Commitment to privacy
In addition, the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) has recently revalidated the extension of the Iberdrola Group's Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs), strengthening the company's commitment to consistent and rigorous privacy management in all countries where it operates.
In line with the company's ethical digital strategy, Iberdrola is thus reinforcing its leadership in privacy within the European energy sector, positioning itself as a benchmark among utilities in compliance with the highest standards in data protection.
