Ignacio Sánchez Galán attends the Doha Forum
Leaders and political strategists from around the world are meeting this weekend in Qatar to address the main issues of major concern in the world at the traditional Doha Forum, in an agenda that initially included the environmental crisis, the challenges still posed by the COVID-19 or the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and in which attention has now turned to the war in Ukraine.
Presidents, foreign ministers, prominent political leaders and heads of the main multilateral organisations, such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), among others.
Zelensky, President of Ukraine, spoke telematically at the official opening of the Doha Forum.
Ignacio Galán has travelled to Qatar to attend the Doha Forum, the main political and economic meeting of the year in the region, which has established itself as one of the global benchmarks for strategic dialogue. As usual, the forum will be inaugurated by the Emir of Qatar and throughout the forum, public authorities, businessmen and members of civil society, such as Josep Borrell, Bill Gates, Hillary Clinton, Kristalina Georgieva, José Manuel Durao Barroso, Carl Bildt, etc., will take part in the event.
Ignacio Sánchez Galán met this morning in Doha with numerous personalities, especially with public officials from the emirate.
Galán was recognised as Chairman of the world's second largest private electricity company, a world leader in renewables and a key player in the decolonisation of the planet, as well as the world's largest investor in offshore platforms.
One of Ignacio Sánchez Galán's most endearing encounters was with his friend Shk. Dr. Khalid bin Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani (see photo), shareholder and director of Grupo Prisa, chairman of Qatar International Islamic Bank, among many other companies.
Ignacio Sánchez Galán defended Spain and Spanish companies as the most serious group of entities with the best prepared leaders in the world in each and every sector. Iberdrola's presence in many different countries, the leading Spanish investor abroad, having signed the creation of an off-shore platform in Scotland for 22,500 million euros, 2% of Spain's GDP, and the 10,000 million dollars in Massachusetts in the last month alone.
In addition to addressing the current major geopolitical issues, discussions will focus on ways to accelerate recovery and achieve a more solid and sustainable economy. As in other forums, such as Davos or the United Nations, Iberdrola's perspectives are particularly valued, not only because the company has been ahead of the curve on the energy transition, but also because of its global vision of the current economic situation.
