Strategic agreement between Indra Group and S2GRUPO
Indra Group, a leading global company in Defence, Aerospace and Advanced Technologies, and S2GRUPO, a Spanish company specialising in cybersecurity and cyber intelligence, have signed a strategic collaboration agreement (MoU) for the joint development of advanced cyber defence capabilities aimed at strengthening the protection of platforms, systems and programmes in the defence sector, as well as to develop combat capabilities in cyberspace, understood as the fifth domain of defence.
A shared vision to strengthen technological sovereignty
This is the first formal alliance between the two companies, which share a common strategic vision: to strengthen technological sovereignty in cyber defence and provide the Armed Forces with fully European capabilities in the face of an increasingly sophisticated threat ecosystem dominated by state actors.
Impact of digitalisation on cyber defence
The intensive digitalisation of weapons systems, land, naval and air platforms, sensors, command and control systems, communications and logistics chains has exponentially increased the attack surface and exposure to cyber threats. This, coupled with the recognition of cyberspace as the fifth domain of defence, makes it necessary to move towards approaching cyber as another field of manoeuvre, moving from traditional cybersecurity to an active cyber defence approach in which our cyber warriors can exercise command and control of military missions in this new domain in accordance with the strategic, operational and tactical objectives of the military operation.
Statements from executives about the alliance
"This agreement with S2GRUPO strengthens national capabilities for the development of sovereign solutions for conducting military missions in cyberspace, responding to the current needs of our cyber warriors who face a situation of permanent hybrid warfare, in which traditional cybersecurity capabilities are not sufficient to guarantee freedom of action in cyberspace," said Ángel Escribano, executive chairman of Indra Group.
For his part, José Miguel Rosell, CEO and co-founder of S2GRUPO, stressed that ‘in a scenario marked by the emergence of state actors and persistent threats, the collaboration with Indra Group allows us to contribute advanced technological capabilities to strengthen the resilience of the Armed Forces and consolidate national and European strategic autonomy.’
Context and framework of the agreement signing
The agreement was signed within the framework of the XIX STIC CCN-CERT Conference | VII ESPDEF-CERT Conference | RootedCON 2025 Congress, an unprecedented event that brings together more than 7,000 professionals from the public, private and academic sectors and the technical community under the slogan ‘A digital shield for an interconnected Spain’.
Strengthening the defence industrial ecosystem
This alliance strengthens the defence industrial ecosystem, providing high added-value and fully sovereign technological solutions in an area that is crucial for national security.
