Indra completes acquisition of Global Training Aviation and reinforces its position as one of the world's leading simulation companies
Indra, a leading global consulting and technology company, has closed the acquisition of 65% of GTA, thus reaching 100% of the capital, and becomes one of the few companies in the world capable of covering the entire value chain of this business, from the development of the most advanced simulators and training systems to the provision of training services for civil and military pilots.
For Indra's Director of Simulation, Rafael Junco, this operation "increases our capacity to define a much more solid and stable long-term growth strategy for the simulation business, and allows us to establish a closer relationship with the end customer, airlines and Ministries of Defence, to whom we will provide a first class service through GTA, a company specialised in pilot and cabin crew training and certified by the world's main aviation authorities".
Indra will also drive GTA's growth to gain business share in strategic markets and capture the high growth potential of the civil aviation training services market in Asia, Europe and Latin America. To this end, it has defined a growth plan that includes the supply of new training devices, the consolidation of existing sites and the international expansion of the company, which will maintain its brand, identity and structure of recognised prestige in the market.
This acquisition also provides sufficient visibility of demand to enable Indra to accelerate the development of the next-generation technologies that will shape the future of the sector and which will be decisive in securing its leadership position in the coming years, bringing the best possible solutions to its customers.
Indra has maintained a close collaboration relationship with GTA since 2009, when the company acquired the first civil aircraft flight simulators manufactured by Indra, of the ATR 72-500 and later Airbus A320 models.
In mid-2017, after the opening of GTA's headquarters in Indonesia, Indra takes the next step with the acquisition of 35.07% of the company's capital, with which it establishes a relationship that today is consolidated with the purchase of the remaining 65%. Since then, GTA has completed its fleet of simulators with the incorporation of three additional state-of-the-art simulators and a new international headquarters in Colombia, expanding its service offer in the Latin American market.
Indra has a significant national and international presence in the simulation equipment manufacturing business, having delivered more than 250 civil and military simulators worldwide. The company is one of the most recognised manufacturers of rotary wing platforms and has been gaining significant weight in the fixed-wing platform market, an area with enormous growth potential.
