Indra digitises processes and operations in the logistics chain of the port of San Antonio in Chile
Indra is implementing the digitalisation and interoperability systems for all the processes involved in the supply and logistics chain of the Port of San Antonio in Chile, the country's main port and the one with the greatest capacity.
Indra's innovative PCS (Port Community System) integrates, in a single digital cloud platform, all the information related to the activities of freight transport, maritime logistics and operations of the various actors and authorities of the Port of San Antonio. This allows for the management and integration of all data sources and processes to interact electronically and, thanks to the automation of workflows and the optimisation of procedures, achieve greater operational efficiency.
This new system will increase the productivity of port operations, reduce costs and the use of paper, which will contribute to an improvement in sustainability as a result of the reduced impact of activities in the port environment. Furthermore, Indra's solution guarantees the highest level of data protection and compliance with the most demanding legal and operational requirements.
Indra's technology will help to carry out processes more quickly and will reduce the possibility of errors in operations that, until now, had mostly been carried out using non-integrated systems and even manually. Indra's technology has proven capable of significantly reducing waiting times for cargo lorries. It will also facilitate safer and more controlled movements within the port by providing real-time information on the status of administrative processes for the various logistics and port services that take place.
The Port of San Antonio is one of the most important maritime organisations in Chile, with a capacity for more than 30 million tonnes of cargo per year, currently handling more than 23 million. It is in the process of expansion and growth, and Indra will be the technological partner of the San Antonio Port Authority (EPSA). Both organisations are working together on this important project to digitise the millions of pieces of data that are handled daily from the Port of San Antonio, with the aim of increasing the efficiency of its network and services.
Global port interoperability
Indra has a presence in more than 70 ports around the world and extensive experience in the deployment of this type of technology in Latin America, with projects in Brazil, Uruguay, Panama and other ports in Chile, such as Valparaíso.
Furthermore, Indra was one of the main technology providers in the expansion of the Panama Canal and has modernised the information management systems of the Panama Maritime Authority. In Uruguay, its developments control customs access of goods to the port of Montevideo.
