Indra Group has reached a strategic agreement with Airtificial to collaborate on three lines of work related to robotics and industrial process automation for the manufacture of platforms; composite material structures for aeronautical and defence applications; and on-board electromechanical equipment for air and land platforms.

The executive chairman of Indra Group, Ángel Escribano, and the CEO of Airtificial, Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, signed the agreement during the Second National Defence Industry Ecosystem Meeting, which brought together nearly 600 people invited by the leading Spanish multinational in defence and advanced technologies.

"We are committed to continuing to add new partners and collaborators who will help us strengthen our global supply chain and make the defence sector stronger and more competitive. We hope that this agreement will help us incorporate Airtificial's most advanced capabilities into our industrial plan and, with it, into the reindustrialisation process of our country, which is key to guaranteeing our technological sovereignty and strategic autonomy," emphasised Indra Group Executive Chairman Ángel Escribano.

For his part, Guillermo Fernández de Peñaranda, CEO of Airtificial, explained that "Airtificial has a lot to offer Indra Group in terms of cutting-edge technology for long-series manufacturing processes for defence vehicles, the manufacture of structural parts for aircraft such as state-of-the-art drones, electromechanical equipment and systems development. We are going to put our experience, high degree of specialisation and knowledge, and our factories at the service of Indra Group so that we can grow together and collaborate to strengthen our partner as a global leader in the defence sector. We are very grateful to Indra Group for placing its trust in us."

Under the agreement, in the field of robotics and industrial process automation, Indra Group and Airtificial will explore collaboration for the automation, industrialisation and maintenance of production and testing lines. Airtificial's experience in these areas could thus contribute to Indra Group's plans to manufacture different platforms.

In relation to the manufacture of drones and other devices for Indra Group's Weapons & Ammunition business, Airtificial is a potential supplier of parts, structures and assembled units for production, thanks to its capabilities in the design, industrialisation, manufacture and maintenance of composites, which are materials made up of two or more synthetic materials.

Finally, thanks to its experience in the design, industrialisation and production of embedded electromechanical equipment, Airtificial could also collaborate with Indra Group in the development of critical systems such as flight control sticks, control units and transducers for air and land platforms; military system test benches; consoles and mission systems; and maintenance services for electromechanical equipment.
