Indra Group and Egatel seal alliance to advance innovation in defence and communications
Indra Group and Egatel S.L.U., a Spanish technology company specialising in advanced communications and radio frequency systems, have signed a strategic agreement to collaborate in the development, manufacture and industrialisation of cutting-edge solutions in electronic defence, command and control, radar, simulation, space and communications.
The agreement, signed by Indra Group Executive Chairman Ángel Escribano, José Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of the company, and Yago Novoa, CEO of Egatel S.L.U., establishes a framework for cooperation to jointly identify and promote new business opportunities and technology projects that strengthen national sovereignty and position the Spanish defence industry at the international forefront.
‘The alliance with Egatel allows us to integrate complementary capabilities and accelerate the development of high value-added technological solutions for the Armed Forces and other strategic customers, both in Spain and in global markets,’ said Indra Group CEO Ángel Escribano.
‘We are formalising a strategic collaboration with Indra that constitutes a milestone for Egatel. This agreement reinforces the complementarity of our capabilities. It is an alliance that promotes the joint development of highly reliable technological solutions that will contribute to strengthening the defence ecosystem in our country and in different strategic markets,’ said Yago Novoa, CEO of Egatel S.L.U.
Technology to strengthen strategic sovereignty
The main areas of collaboration include the development and manufacture of advanced communications systems, including state-of-the-art SatCom terminals; electronic and electromechanical integration, together with the industrialisation and maintenance of electronic equipment; and the provision of complete solutions for the life cycle management of proprietary and third-party systems, both in the domestic and international markets.
As part of the agreement, both companies will set up a Monitoring Committee responsible for defining the joint strategy, evaluating commercial opportunities and supervising the progress of projects.
The agreement with Egatel is part of the implementation of major Armed Forces modernisation programmes which, once formalised in contracts, will help to advance towards strategic and industrial autonomy in defence. In addition, they will enable the creation of more than 3,000 direct engineering and production jobs within the Indra Group and throughout its value chain.
The technology and defence company intends to tackle these new programmes through its network of partners. It currently has more than 1,000 collaborators and plans to add another 200 new suppliers and industrial partners throughout Spain.
