Indra Group and GMV have signed an agreement to work together on the development of cutting-edge systems and services for the Armed Forces that will help strengthen national sovereignty and the competitiveness of Spanish industry in the European and global markets.

Ángel Escribano, Executive Chairman of Indra Group, José Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra Group, Jesús B. Serrano, CEO of GMV, and Manuel Pérez Cortés, General Manager of Defence and Security at GMV, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during a visit by Indra representatives to GMV's facilities in Tres Cantos (Madrid).

Areas of cooperation

Both companies have identified a number of areas for collaboration to combine the technologies and systems they develop and meet the needs of the Armed Forces in the Special Modernisation Programmes that are being implemented.

Areas such as unmanned vehicles, command and control, electronic warfare, cyber defence and advanced communications offer significant synergies to be exploited, with the aim of accelerating project delivery and bringing cutting-edge solutions to market.

Ángel Escribano, Executive Chairman of Indra Group, said: ‘We are strengthening collaboration and boosting the entire Spanish innovation ecosystem to respond to the needs of our Armed Forces and take on a leading role in the major programmes being launched in Europe. In this regard, GMV is a key player in the sector.’

GMV's General Manager for Defence and Security, Manuel Pérez Cortés, said: ‘We are taking a step forward to work in an increasingly cohesive manner and deliver more interoperable, effective and advanced systems to our Armed Forces, at a time when we are facing increasingly complex programmes that require us to combine our capabilities, technologies and areas of expertise even more efficiently.’

Beyond the specific programmes identified, both companies will explore other possible areas of interest in which GMV can cooperate with Indra, in line with their design, engineering and production capabilities, both nationally and internationally.

In those Special Modernisation Programmes in which GMV's capabilities are key to their successful development, the parties will identify closed packages with relevance in terms of responsibility and content, reflecting GMV's role as a key partner.
