Indra Group has presented its ‘Indra Group Growth and Talent Attraction Plan in the Principality of Asturiasin Oviedo. The company wants to turn the region into a key territory for its industrial and technological expansion, reinforcing its commitment to generating quality and stable employment, which it expects to reach 850 professionals by 2027.

During the meeting, Indra Group highlighted the launch of Indra Land Vehicles, its new business unit focused on the land defence sector, which will have its main centre of operations in Asturias. This deployment will be complemented by the expansion of other strategic lines such as Air Traffic, Minsait and Mobility, consolidating the multinational's presence in the Principality.

Indra Group's plan in Asturias will focus on consolidating the new production centre in Gijón and air traffic activities, as well as increasing engineering capabilities in the region and expanding the value chain by integrating the region's industrial fabric.

Indra Group anticipates significant talent needs in the region in order to execute the contracts signed with the Ministry of Defence to modernise the Army's systems at the El Tallerón facilities in Gijón, where the first VCR 8x8 ‘Dragón’ has already been received for verification. The forecasts envisage starting final assembly in the first half of the year and reaching full operational capacity in 2026. Indra Group has highlighted that this plan will have a significant impact on the creation of skilled jobs with the aim of making the company one of the main industrial and technological drivers in the region.

In addition, the value chain will be strengthened by integrating the Asturian business fabric and increasing engineering capabilities in the area.

The event was attended by the Minister of Science, Industry and Employment of the Government of Asturias, Borja Sánchez; the Mayor of Gijón, Carmen Moriyón; the Mayor of Oviedo, Alfredo Canteli; the Mayor of Avilés, Marivi Monteserin Rodríguez; as well as representatives from the Ministry of Defence, the University of Oviedo, directors-general of public employment and training institutions, and the Asturian Agency for Science, Business Competitiveness and Innovation (Sekuens).

On behalf of Indra Group, Mari Carmen Moneva, Director General of Human Resources, emphasised that, "as a leading and backbone company in the defence, aerospace and advanced technologies industry in Spain, our goal is also to be the benchmark company for national and Asturian technological and industrial talent. The profiles we are looking for are very broad, ranging from highly specialised technicians and professionals in the field of technology to engineers in the areas of mechanics, electronics, production and Industry 4.0, as well as vocational training profiles and other support professionals."

Manuel Escalante, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Indra Group, emphasised that "investment and development at Indra Group is carried out through an open innovation scheme, which is based on collaboration with other companies and the innovation ecosystem, mainly with more than 400 technology centres and universities. These include the University of Oviedo, with which we have been collaborating for years within the framework of a very important chair, which has yielded highly relevant results."
