Indra Group seeks collaboration with Córdoba City Council to accelerate its growth and job creation plan
The mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido, and the deputy mayor, Blanca Torrent, welcomed Indra Group's Director General of Human Resources, Mari Carmen Moneva, and the group's Director of Production, José Manuel Fuentes, who presented the company's ambitious industrial growth plan in Córdoba and conveyed the strong talent needs derived from it, with the goal of reaching a workforce of 450 professionals in the next two years. The meeting was also attended by the Andalusian Regional Government's delegates for Education and Employment, Diego Copé and María Dolores Gálvez.
During the meeting, possible avenues for collaboration with the City Council were analysed to facilitate the recruitment of highly qualified technical professionals, mainly in the areas of production and engineering, as well as the development of new training capabilities to respond to the significant volume of hiring expected in the coming months.
The increase in professionals planned by Indra is linked to the launch of new industrial and technological centres in the province: the automated radar factory in Las Quemadas and a new facility for advanced metal structures for the development of deployable command and control centres, the location of which the company is currently evaluating.
José María Bellido Roche, Mayor of Córdoba, expressed his gratitude for "the Indra Group's commitment to Córdoba. This is a great opportunity not only for the development and promotion of our industrial and logistical growth, but also for continuing to foster the talent of Córdoba's professionals who, with Indra's commitment to our city, have the great opportunity to be part of a leading international company that will continue to grow from our city. This is wonderful news for Córdoba.‘
For her part, Mari Carmen Moneva, general manager of Human Resources at Indra Group, stressed that ’Córdoba is a key location in our expansion plan in Andalusia. The volume of new hires planned requires close collaboration with institutions, and today we have taken a very important step in that direction. We are committed to creating stable, quality employment, attracting and developing local talent, and promoting training programmes that enable young people and professionals to become involved in cutting-edge national and international projects, such as the creation of courses to collaborate in the training of radio frequency technicians, a very scarce profile in which Indra has the world's leading experts."
"Our commitment to Córdoba is firm, and we are therefore deploying our capabilities very quickly. We have already launched our new centre to automate radar manufacturing, where this year we will produce more than 100 Nemus radars, which can detect, identify and track drones and all types of projectiles, as well as systems such as our space surveillance radar, the Lanza LTR-25 long-range radar and the MRT multifunction tactical radar. These are state-of-the-art technologies in which Indra is a global leader, as it is in command and control systems, which we will be working on at another centre for which we are still looking for a location," explained José Manuel Fuentes, Director of Production at Indra Group.
Indra Group wants to strengthen its alliances with the University of Córdoba, vocational training centres and the Public Employment Service, with the aim of promoting specific, high-level training programmes, including the design of an advanced course in radio frequency, aimed at the specialised training of local talent and its integration and retention within the Córdoba innovation ecosystem.
Strategic investment of €56 million in Córdoba
The progress of Indra Group's industrial plan in Córdoba includes an investment of €56 million for two large work centres. On the one hand, the Las Quemadas plant, with more than 13,000 m², which will become a factory for high-tech radars for civil and military use.
On the other hand, the company is promoting a second location, which is currently being defined, that will house advanced metal infrastructure capabilities, including the development of deployable command and control centres for defence, telecommunications and tactical systems.
In addition to these centres, there is the Deuser technology hub in Tecnocórdoba, integrated into Minsait as a unit specialising in industrial digitalisation and Industry 4.0.
A driving force for Andalusia
The growth in Córdoba is part of the Indra Group's Andalusia Plan, which seeks to double the group's activity in the region and reinforce its role as a driving force in the Andalusian technological and industrial ecosystem.
Over the next few years, Indra Group will invest more than €80 million in Andalusia to strengthen its industrial capabilities, generating more than 500 new jobs, to reach a workforce of more than 3,700 professionals highly specialised in the most cutting-edge technologies.
It will also contribute to generating indirect employment throughout the network of suppliers and companies with which Indra Group works in the region, thereby helping to boost its economy and orient it towards technological activities with great growth potential.
As part of its commitment to Andalusia, Indra Group will also strengthen its existing relationship with the region's leading universities and vocational training centres. The company has helped to set up various chairs and has provided young people leaving the classroom with a first-class career in the high-tech sector, helping to retain talent.
