Indra Group strengthens its position in Ireland with the opening of a new office in Dublin
Indra Group has opened a new office in Dublin with the aim of strengthening its position in the Mobility business in Ireland and consolidating its position as a leading technology partner in transport and mobility, an area in which it leads the implementation of one of the internationally renowned public transport ticketing systems for the National Transport Authority (NTA), the entity responsible for its administration.
This new headquarters will enable Indra Group to continue to respond to its growth prospects in Ireland and strengthen its technological capabilities in the country to drive highly complex projects of national scope, with a strong commitment to local talent, while strengthening collaboration with local customers, institutions and partners.
The new offices will be the work centre for developing the ticketing project for the entire Irish public transport network, which includes trams, buses, the national rail network and the future Dublin Metro.
The Indra Group's ticketing solution is based on an advanced multimodal backend system that facilitates the integration of multiple operators, as well as the implementation and operation of physical and digital sales channels. In addition, it will incorporate cutting-edge technologies, such as the use of bank cards, mobile phones or smartwatches (EMV) as a means of access to transport, increasing agility and convenience for travellers.
Irish Transport Minister Darragh O'Brien said: "The opening of Indra's new headquarters in Dublin is a clear sign of Ireland's ambition to lead innovation in transport. This office will be the nerve centre from which a national contactless ticketing system will be implemented, improving user convenience and supporting more sustainable mobility. It also represents a significant boost to the economy, as it will generate high-skilled employment and reinforce Ireland's position as a leader in intelligent transport solutions. I look forward to seeing how the team here supports this transformation and contributes to making public transport more convenient for everyone in the country."
Anne Shaw, CEO of NTA, said: ‘The opening of this office is an important milestone in our collaboration with Indra. Having a dedicated team based in Dublin ensures that the next-generation ticketing project will be developed by combining local knowledge and global expertise. This investment demonstrates the scale of the programme and our commitment to providing users across the country with a modern, integrated payment system.’
Raúl Ripio, Director of Mobility & Technology at Indra Group, highlighted: "This is a day of great pride for Indra. The opening of our new headquarters in Dublin represents a key milestone in our journey and underlines our firm commitment to sustainable, long-term growth in this country. It also reinforces our strategic alliance with the various authorities responsible for transport management, based on a shared vision of progress and technological innovation. At Indra, we believe in the value of local talent and its ability to provide a global perspective."
Strategic vision in Ireland
Indra Group has been collaborating on mobility projects and technology solutions in Ireland for more than 20 years. Among the most notable, Indra has commissioned the new toll system for the Dublin tunnel, which has completely modernised this critical infrastructure and increased traffic capacity and flow in one of the country's main freight transport access points, thanks to the incorporation of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and 3D LiDAR.
It has also implemented an advanced third-generation cloud interoperability platform for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), which makes it easier for travellers to use all toll motorways in Ireland with a single account. In addition, Indra is implementing its railway management system (TMS) in the country's railway network, with the aim of improving operational efficiency, safety and service reliability throughout the territory.
The Indra Group also has a strong position in the United Kingdom, where it develops highly complex mobility projects and is a technology partner of the air navigation service provider NATS, with which it is collaborating on the modernisation of the country's air traffic management systems. The company has recently signed a contract worth up to £1 billion with Transport for London to manage the ticketing and access control systems for the entire London public transport network.
With more than 2,500 projects deployed in 50 countries and more than 100 cities around the world, Indra Group has established itself as a global benchmark in urban and interurban mobility, with the capacity to lead its digital transformation with advanced technological solutions that adapt to each customer, need and operational reality.
