Indra will be responsible for implementing all of its most innovative intelligent mobility management technology on Atlanta's SR 400 Express Lane.

Indra will be the technology partner of the SR 400 Peach Partners consortium, formed by ACS Group, Acciona and Meridiam, which has been selected by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) to design, build, finance, operate and maintain this project in Atlanta, the third fastest growing city in the United States, for the next 55 years.

Indra's technology will enable traffic management and implement an advanced dynamic free-flow tolling system in the managed lanes on the more than 25 kilometres of highway.

The company's solution will be deployed in the cloud and will incorporate advanced technologies to make traffic predictions and improve vehicle classification, efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.

‘The technology we will implement on SR 400 Express Lane will usher in a new era in sustainable mobility. Managed lanes will be optional and will facilitate advanced and flexible mobility solutions that will reduce congestion and emissions, while allowing travellers to enjoy excellent service and safety. It is not the future, it is the present, and a country as technologically advanced as the United States is already betting on it,’ explains Raúl Ripio, general manager of Indra's Mobility & Technology.

SR 400 Express Lanes is not Indra's first mobility project in the United States. The company has a strong presence in the country and has equipped the I-66 highway in Washington DC with free-flow tolling systems, automatic detection of High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), LiDAR and connected vehicle technology, a project for which it received the IBTTA Toll Excellence Award.

In addition, Indra has also deployed some of its most innovative solutions on the I-485 in North Carolina, or the I-95, I-495 and I-395 highways in Northern Virginia.
