Indra will provide the Royal Air Force of Oman with new long-range 3D
The Sultanate of Oman has once again placed its trust in Indra's technology to reinforce its air defence system, after awarding the company a contract to provide the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) with two new long-range 3D-launch early warning radars.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman, Mohamed Bin Nasser Al-Zaabi, and the President of the Indra Group, Ángel Escribano, signed the contract at Indra's headquarters in Madrid, accompanied by various officials from the Omani Ministry of Defence and the Indra Group, as well as from the Spanish Ministry of Defence.
The project includes the design, supply and installation of two fixed-site Lanza 3D-LRR radars, as well as the supply of radio voice communications systems and integration with the command and control system, also supplied by Indra. The scope also includes increasing the capacity of the Sultanate of Oman's air force to carry out third-level maintenance on its radars.
The new systems will reinforce the complete air defence system based on Lanza radars carried out by Indra in Oman, whose deployment ended in 2020.
Oman's renewed confidence in Indra is a recognition of the company's cutting-edge technology and its commitment to offering the best response to its customers' needs and to establishing long-term relationships. It also contributes to the strategy of reinforcing Indra's position and footprint in the Middle East.
Indra has a subsidiary in Oman with a team of 30 professionals. Since its arrival in the country in 2010, it has carried out important projects in the defence and security, space, and air traffic management (ATM) businesses.
