IndraMind, Indra Group's sovereign AI to combat hybrid warfare and protect citizens
Indra Group has officially launched IndraMind, the first Spanish technological initiative to develop sovereign AI in a cyber-resilient environment for the comprehensive protection of citizens, territories, and critical physical and digital infrastructure and assets, thus taking a decisive step towards strategic superiority and technological sovereignty.
‘IndraMind is our response to a new situation, using our knowledge to immediately promote technological sovereignty in Spain and Europe,’ said Ángel Escribano, executive chairman of Indra Group. This proposal reinforces the company's leadership in innovation and the development of technological solutions that place our country at the forefront of the digital transformation of critical systems.
‘In recent months, we have consolidated our commercial positioning in line with three key trends in the security and defence market: cognitive superiority – intelligence and decision-making – autonomous operations and cyber resilience,’ explained José Vicente de los Mozos, CEO of Indra Group.
For his part, Ignacio Martínez, director of IndraMind, defined this new technology as "a digital brain that allows systems to think, decide and anticipate, and also speeds up the execution of operations. We have developed a solution that not only responds to current challenges, but also anticipates future challenges, with a vision focused on intelligence as a driver of transformation. Its ability to learn, adapt and operate autonomously in real time makes it a key tool for the new era of critical systems."
IndraMind is built on more than two decades of the company's knowledge, experience and capabilities in cybersecurity, cyber defence, electronic warfare, Artificial Intelligence (AI), autonomous platforms (drones and anti-drones), massive data management and command and control systems.
‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced software are transforming the security and defence market. IndraMind is positioned as a unique specialist in the market because it integrates the entire value chain with its own new-generation products,’ said Ignacio Martínez, CEO of IndraMind.
The international context is marked by uncertainty and the acceleration of hybrid risks. Threats to national security no longer operate in silos. An attack can simultaneously combine cyberspace, critical infrastructure and public services, blurring the boundaries between civil security and military defence. This new reality requires a coordinated and unified response.
Technological sovereignty and intelligent response for comprehensive protection and critical security
IndraMind is positioned as a strategic response to strengthen the protection of essential assets and citizens. Its deployment contributes to consolidating the technological sovereignty of Europe and Spain, as well as their allies, in line with the modernisation plans promoted by European funds and national security and defence policies.
IndraMind's capabilities allow it to respond to situations in both the civil and military spheres. "We are talking about applying all the technology we have developed, and continue to evolve at Indra Group, to situations such as border surveillance, emergency management, and protection of critical infrastructure against physical and digital attacks. And we are talking about technological sovereignty, not only in terms of data, but also in terms of algorithms, AI, software and the infrastructure on which everything is based," explained Martínez.
Speed is essential in critical missions, allowing intelligent agents, such as drones and autonomous AI systems, to act in a coordinated manner. That is why optimising decision-making and automation is key. IndraMind has the capacity to process large volumes of data in real time, enabling threats to be anticipated and responded to appropriately.
IndraMind begins operations with a turnover of more than €300 million and a workforce of 3,000 highly qualified professionals. The company addresses current challenges, such as hybrid warfare, through a comprehensive approach to security and defence, applying dual-use technological solutions aimed at ensuring both operational advantage in critical situations and deterrence capability.
Building on the power of technology, IndraMind incorporates sovereignty, understanding, action and strategic superiority for our present and future.
