Karima Benyaich: ‘We would like to work hand in hand with Spanish investors and develop important sectors on the African continent’

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Spain, Karima Benyaich, spoke about the great business opportunities that exist on the African continent

Karima Benyaich, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Spain, spoke to the media covering the conference Morocco & Spain: Investing Together for a Sustainable & Shared Future’, held on 29 April in Madrid, among which was Atalayar.

The ambassador pointed out that ‘at this important economic event, which was chaired here in Madrid by our Minister of Investment, the Kingdom of Morocco presented some cutting-edge plans that make our country a very important platform for promoting economic and trade relations with Spain’.

With regard to these relations, Karima Benyaich highlighted the figures for trade between the two countries: ‘trade relations amount to 22 billion euros and Spain has been Morocco's leading trading partner for more than a decade’.

Among the future plans highlighted by the diplomat to the press are the Automotive Plan, the Digital Plan 2030 and the Railway Plan 2030, with the launch of the high-speed train between Kenitra and Tangier and the entire project surrounding it, such as commuter trains.

The diplomat said that ‘we are very happy to share these plans with Spanish businesspeople, who are already present in our country, with companies such as Acciona, in desalination plants, Cepsa, in hydrogen, CAF, in commuter trains, large companies that have been working in Morocco for some time.’

Finally, Benyaich referred to Morocco's position as a leader and promoter of investment in the rest of the African continent: ‘We are a platform that, for decades and in accordance with the guidelines of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has attached great importance to our continent, where Morocco is very present, and we would like to work hand in hand with Spanish investors in important sectors of the African continent, such as banking, real estate and logistics’. ‘We want our African neighbours and our African brothers and sisters to also be able to share in our development and move forward,’ she concluded.
