More than 51,000 people dyed Valladolid green in the 13th Walk Against Cancer, promoted by Iberdrola Spain
Iberdrola España and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) have joined forces once again this year in the largest walk in Spain. Defying the rain, the gardens of El Campo Grande, as a starting point, have been dressed this Sunday in green colour that every year brings out the most supportive face of the capital of Valladolid.
The 13th Valladolid Walk Against Cancer, which has had the special support of Iberdrola Spain as its main sponsor for the ninth consecutive year, has dyed the city's most central streets green, with more than 51,000 runners, exceeding all expectations.
The proceeds from this collaboration, which is part of the agreement between the two organisations to work both on research to improve diagnosis and treatment of cancer, and on raising social awareness in the fight against the disease, will be used to continue financing the research grants promoted by the Valladolid headquarters, which this year amount to 600,000 euros.
The President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Valladolid, Artemio Domínguez; the researchers, Dr. Nuria Benavent, Dr. Adela Cañete, Lucía Álvarez and Juan de la Puente; the Mayor of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero; the President of the Valladolid Provincial Council, Conrado Íscar; the Minister for Equality, Ana Redondo, and the Commercial Director of Iberdrola Spain in Castilla y León, Celiano García, among others, have supported this initiative once again this year.
In addition, taking advantage of this charity sporting event, Iberdrola España wanted to recall one of the most innovative initiatives developed within the framework of this agreement, the ‘Together against cancer’ campaign, through which the company offers its customers the possibility of collaborating with the association, pledging to double the amount they donate each month through their electricity or gas bill.
Iberdrola España and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) have a long-standing relationship that was consolidated in 2015 with the signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at cancer research. The continued commitment of the company and its customers has made Iberdrola España the main private collaborator of the AECC.
