On the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of Moroccans Around the World on 10 August, the president of the CGEM in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, Omar Kadaoui, emphasised, during a seminar organised by the Regional Investment Centre in the city of Tangier, the decisive contribution of the so-called ‘13th Region’ (Moroccans living abroad) as a genuine bridge connecting the talent of expatriates with local opportunities.

Kadaoui urged Moroccans living abroad who want to start projects, launch or expand their businesses in the Moroccan market to explore the opportunities offered by the 12 regions of the Kingdom, especially the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

The CGEM official described this region as ‘a land of opportunities’ due to the various factors that make this part of the North African country a breeding ground for investors with innovative project ideas in various economic sectors, thanks to:

  • Its strategic geographical location and openness to the world.
  • • Its modern and competitive infrastructure.
  • • Its economic dynamism and exceptional growth potential.

Kadaoui also highlighted the strategic importance of the Moroccan diaspora, in its various dimensions, which contributes to the development of its country of origin. For the regional president, Moroccans around the world are not mere summer visitors, but important players capable of investing in their country of origin, passing on their experience, knowledge and networks, and contributing to the development of high-impact projects in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.

Convinced that the union of forces between Moroccans around the world and local actors can accelerate the country's development, the regional representative of the CGEM placed particular emphasis on the importance of building solid bridges between the diaspora and their mother country at all levels, in order to achieve a stronger, more innovative and more open Morocco.

This seminar, organised by the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Regional Investment Centre, is part of Investment Week for Moroccans around the world, organised by the Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, headed by Karim Zidane.
