Marruecos y Bahréin cierran un acuerdo en el campo de las energías renovables
Morocco and Bahrain have signed a new partnership in the renewable energy sector based on the exchange of knowledge and technology. Morocco's Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, and Bahrain's Minister of Electricity and Water, Wael bin Nasser al-Mubarak, agreed through a video conference to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
The new partnership established between the Arab countries essentially includes cooperation in the renewable energy sector. The two states are committed to the exchange of knowledge, technology transfer, capacity building and the consolidation of public and private investment in the renewable energy sector.
According to local sources and as reported by Agence Ecofin, the Moroccan minister praised the fraternal ties between the two countries, and the strong relations of cooperation between them in various fields. Benali affirmed that the two countries aspire to raise relations to higher levels in the service of common objectives in accordance with the guidelines set by the monarchs Mohammed IV and Hamd bin Issa bin Salman al-Khalifa. In addition, both countries are committed to fostering relations between governmental and academic institutions with the private sector.
This new agreement comes just three weeks after the publication of a joint press release highlighting that the two kingdoms were preparing to sign 11 new partnership agreements in the oil, gas, renewable energy, social security and investment sectors.
These agreements presented last Saturday join the pacts to boost youth that Morocco and Bahrain made public just a week ago. Both countries wanted to emphasise the importance of young people as a focal point of interest and possible exchange of knowledge through initiatives that promote culture and sport.
The Alawi and Bahraini kingdoms have started a series of projects that aim to ensure that young people are well qualified. Both countries will start exchanging knowledge and experiences that can contribute to the proper educational development of young people.
These new agreements are a boost that Morocco and Bahrain are giving to improve their diplomatic relations in all areas. The two kingdoms have been working for more than two decades on their relations in various sectors, including industry, energy and education, among others. In 2000, the Alawi and Bahraini kingdoms signed the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), known as the first treaty signed by the two countries and the first step in bilateral relations. The main objective of this agreement was to promote and protect trade between the two states, as well as to encourage foreign investment in parallel.
