According to information published in the Spanish-Moroccan Forum in relation to the wind turbine blade export project at the new port of Nador West Med, the NWMED/MA RORO terminal, where the first stopover of export blades from Chinese manufacturer AEOLON has been managed, has brought forward its operations by more than 20 months, despite the fact that it was initially scheduled for the second half of 2027.

This progress has been made possible thanks to significant political support from the Wali of the Nador region, the NWMED/MA port authorities, the terminal operator Marsa Maroc and the Ministries of Public Works and Industry, as well as the support of private companies during 2024 and 2025, including Laso-Lasarte Wind and Romeu Shipping Maroc.

The milestone of operating this first call has been achieved, in which, together with the Marsa Maroc teams, 15 wind turbine blades were transported and loaded onto the ship without incident, and are now sailing to Hamburg/GE, well ahead of the scheduled opening date of the RORO port terminal at NWMED/MA.

The participation of InCOM Composite, a Spanish company that is making a significant operational and logistical effort to supply the blades to the manufacturer AEOLON, was also noted.

In this type of large-scale project, delays of several years are common. In this case, the coordination resulting from the decisive political impetus provided by public bodies in Morocco, supported by previous experience in other wind power projects in the country, specialised equipment and technical expertise, has made it possible to achieve this success together and bring forward the planned opening date of the RORO port terminal in NWMED/MA by no less than 20 months.
