Morocco continues to promote green hydrogen through a number of initiatives
Considering Morocco's great potential in the renewable energy sector, the Green Hydrogen Industry Forum recently organised an event in Rabat with the aim of developing this field in the Kingdom.
At a time when the world is trying to transition towards clean energy sources, Morocco is positioning itself as a key player in the decarbonisation of the global industry through important measures taken in recent years in order to boost the development of the green hydrogen sector.
This forum, as well as other initiatives, plays a key role in promoting green hydrogen in Morocco, encouraging innovation, industrial integration, capacity building, knowledge transfer and market development.
Cluster Green H2 is also one of the organisations in charge of boosting this booming industry in Morocco. To this end, Cluster Green H2 is organising an international conference on E-Fuels on 24 May 2024 at the Fairmont La Marina Rabat-Salé, Hôtel and Résidences, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.
This meeting will bring together around 200 stakeholders involved in green hydrogen to discuss and analyse developments in the field of green fuels. The conference will address issues such as the e-fuels market, technological innovations, applications in the chemical, maritime, aeronautical and automotive industries, as well as sustainable production policies.
As reported by Moroccan media, the opening session of the conference will be attended by Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development; Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade; Jeroen Roodenburg, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Morocco; Abdelhamid Addou, Director General of Royal Air Maroc; Mehdi Tazi Riffi, Director General of TMSA; Tarik Hamane, Acting Director General of the Moroccan Sustainable Energy Agency; and Omar Alaoui M'Hamdi, Vice-President of the CGEM's green economy commission.
On the other hand, from 1 to 6 July in Ben Guerir, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Morocco, the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) and the MED-GEM Mediterranean Green Electron and Molecule Network - funded by the European Union - are organising the "Green Hydrogen Camp Morocco: from theory to action".
The event, conceived as a summer school, aims to foster the emergence of a new generation of engineers and researchers for the development of solutions in the green hydrogen sector in Morocco.
