Morocco overtakes European countries in car production
According to data from the International Organisation of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) collected by Rue20, Morocco accounts for 0.6% of world car production.
According to the report published by the international organisation, Morocco has already overtaken European countries such as Belgium, and reached double the production of Portugal. This result reflects the growth of the industrial sector in the North African country and the rise of the Made in Morocco brand.
The OICA highlights Morocco as a nation on the rise in the automotive sector, gradually moving closer to becoming a major player in the industry.
Last year, exports from the automotive sector reached 150 billion dirhams, consolidating its position as the Kingdom's leading export industry, thanks to a highly integrated system.
The automotive industry in Morocco has experienced significant growth in recent years, positioning itself as a fundamental pillar of the national economy. This sector has not only established itself as one of the most important in the country in terms of production and exports, but has also positioned Morocco in the global automotive market.
The Kingdom has become an important vehicle production hub in North Africa, with a strong focus on exports. Furthermore, in 2022, Morocco already surpassed European countries in terms of car production, ranking among the top vehicle producers on the continent.
