Arabian Travel Market

A fair that has set as its main theme for 2024 "Empowering innovation: transforming travel through entrepreneurship". This year the focus has therefore been placed on innovation and entrepreneurship in the search for new tourism trends and strategies to be able to apply and develop them, all related to new aspects such as sustainable travel or the important current activity on new platforms and social networks, with the remarkable initiative of content generators, which have such an influence on consumer trends today.

At the heart of this tourism transformation is the seamless integration of innovation and entrepreneurship, which serve as powerful catalysts to drive innovative net-zero emissions initiatives, low-carbon solutions and sustainable investments within the travel trade industry.

The Moroccan National Tourist Board issued an official statement highlighting the presence at Arabian Travel Market of Ahmed El Tazi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Arab Emirates, and Adel El Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Board, noting that the 31st edition of Arabian Travel Market, the renowned exhibition dedicated to travel and tourism events in the Middle East, is a distinguished event bringing together the region's tourism professionals, whose number exceeds 2,300 exhibitors and representatives from more than 165 countries.

The clear objective is to continue promoting Morocco as a tourist destination, as part of the strategy of the Visit Morocco and Morocco Kingdom of Light brands, and to further improve its position and image in the Gulf and Middle East countries, which are classified as high value-added markets. With this initiative, the aim is to further promote in this market the wide range of Moroccan tourism, which includes important hotel infrastructures, high quality services and all kinds of leisure, cultural and gastronomic offerings of the highest level, focused on a target audience with strong links within the Arab world.

Important enclaves, such as Casablanca, Marrakech, Rabat and Tangier, have come to the fore as part of the Moroccan National Tourist Office's strategy of promoting national destinations to attract tourists. The Moroccan National Tourist Office wanted to highlight the importance of Casablanca in this event of the Arabian Travel Market. This city is an important destination for the Arab tourist market, with a strategic location as an important air hub and transit point to Morocco.

The Moroccan National Tourist Office took advantage of the exhibition to renew its partnership with the Emirates airline, one of the most important airlines in the region. In addition, negotiations are underway to sign a new agreement with other regional players, such as WEGO Middle East.

The 2024 edition of the Arabian Travel Market, organised around the theme of innovation and entrepreneurship, is expected to allow local and international participants to explore new trends in travel and the possibilities for developing and renewing them.

Over the past three decades, Arabian Travel Market has become a leading global event enabling the growth of the travel and tourism industry. In a world where travel transcends borders and commercial opportunities await, there is a place where global travel and tourism visionaries come together. A platform where leisure blends seamlessly with business, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, referring to the niche market that travels for seminars, lectures or other large industry events such as a congress or business tourism) and luxury travel.

Important economic sector

In this way, Morocco continues to focus on tourism as one of the important national economic engines, taking advantage of the wide range of opportunities that the North African country offers to all those interested in visiting the territory. Tourism represents 7% of Morocco's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and acts as a locomotive for other activities, increasing its contribution to 12% of GDP. The sector employs 15% of the working population and generates around 9 billion dollars in foreign exchange earnings annually.
