The Casablanca, SOMACA and Tangiers plants alone contribute 17% of the Group's total sales worldwide

The Renault Group's plants in Casablanca, SOMACA and Tangier have surpassed 4 million vehicles produced on their production lines since the Group's operations began in 2005 and 2012 respectively. A success that testifies to the commitment, operational excellence and combativeness of the Group's employees in Morocco and reinforces the influence of ‘Made In Morocco’.

The automotive sector in Morocco is one of the strengths of the national economy. Moreover, the North African country is the European Union's largest trading partner, ahead of the United States and China, respectively.

The installation of major brands in the most industrialised areas of the country has led Morocco to overtake South Africa as the largest exporter of vehicles on the African continent. It is all these achievements that have led the government to double the area set aside for the automotive industry in the Tangiers free zone.

Mohamed Bachiri, CEO of Renault Group Maroc, congratulated the workers in charge of these factories. ‘It is with great pride that we surpassed the mark of 4 million vehicles produced at our plants since the start of operations in 2005 for the Casablanca plant, SOMACA, and in 2012 for the Tangier plant,’ he wrote in an official statement on his social networks. ‘This is an exceptional achievement that testifies not only to the talent and commitment of our teams, but also to Moroccan know-how,’ he added.

The Renault Group's modern and competitive Moroccan factories have also taken a giant step forward in 2024 by welcoming two new major industrial projects: the production of the Dacia Jogger at the Tangier plant, including the hybrid version, a first in Morocco; and the production of the Renault Kardian at the Casablanca plant and SOMACA, the Renault brand's new SUV.

On this new step, Mohamed Bachiri clarified that ‘this achievement illustrates the quality of the partnership between the Renault Group and Morocco. It also reflects the country's strategic role in the Group's industrial platform and raises the colours of ‘Made in Morocco’ to the international stage’.

Moncef Ahabchane, CEO of the SFC Solutions Maroc group, one of the main companies with which the Renault Group works, stressed that the results ‘are part of a real business case’ and ‘encompass the human aspect, local integration and, above all, quality’.
