Marruecos recibirá a la ministra de Economía israelí
Morocco and Israel are continuing with their cooperation agreements and the good diplomatic relations between the two countries are already being demonstrated. Orna Barbivay, Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry, will visit the Alawi country with the intention of further improving the ties between the two nations, as well as the search for joint work.
"This working visit represents a new opportunity to establish the necessary economic infrastructure for productive bilateral trade," the Israeli ministry said of the visit to Morocco and the link between the two countries.
The news was announced by Einat Levi, who works for the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry on economic affairs between Israel and Morocco. "This will be the first economic working visit to Morocco since the resumption of diplomatic relations between Israel and Morocco," the statement said.
Although the minister is not yet in the Kingdom, her agenda and commitments in the country have already been announced by both Israeli and Moroccan official sources. Barbivay will travel to the cities of Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech where several meetings will take place.
Barbivay will arrive in Morocco on Sunday. The following day, she will hold a meeting with Ryad Mezzour, the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade. The Israeli communiqué notes that the two ministers will sign an agreement on trade cooperation. Ministers Nadia Fettah Alaoui and Younes Sekkouri, of Economy and Finance and Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, respectively, will be present at the session.
"This is an important step in establishing the economic basis for trade relations between the two countries," confirms the communiqué on this future meeting. It also indicates that after the meeting and having already made other commitments, Barbivay will visit several Israeli textile and agricultural companies established in the Alawi country in order to learn about their work and to praise their functions in the nation.
This trip was already announced in 2021 by several official Israeli sources, and her stay in the Kingdom is eagerly awaited in Morocco. "The visit should constitute a new important stage that will be marked by the signing of a major economic agreement," said David Grovrin, Israel's ambassador to the Maghreb country. Although the agreement is not yet known, it will be known in a few days what is the important business in which the two nations want to cooperate.
Just over two years separate the difference in relations between the two countries. After the Abraham Accords promoted by former US President Donald Trump, and signed in Washington D.C., Morocco and Israel have become very close and the interest of both parties to work in any sector has been strengthened.
"The resumption of relations between Morocco and Israel responds to the strong relations and the firm attachment of the Jewish community of Moroccan origin to its country of origin, in addition to the fact that the Kingdom, throughout history, has been a place of coexistence of many religions and different ethnicities," stressed Karim Medrek, Morocco's ambassador to Australia at the event named 'Morocco, Israel and the Jewish world, a new era of relations'. It is worth noting that Morocco is home to the largest Jewish community in the world, outside the borders of Israel.
The building of bridges between the two nations has led to diplomatic visits between the two territories. The visit of Yair Lapid, Israeli Foreign Minister to the Kingdom to inaugurate the country's embassy, which marked the beginning of new contacts, or the trip made by Benny Gantz, Israel's Defence Minister, who travelled to Rabat where he signed a security agreement described as "unprecedented", from which Morocco received several military technological systems such as the "Iron Dome", stand out.
Throughout 2021, one of the most important issues between Morocco and Israel has been in the field of security and intelligence. The Hebrew country has consistently maintained major agreements on the transfer of military equipment to the Alawi kingdom. These meetings have resulted in the sale of drones, defence systems, aircraft and even agreements to cooperate in the construction of military bases, etc.
