Tourism revenue at the end of October stood at 113 billion Moroccan dirhams (12.235 billion dollars)

Morocco's tourism revenue reached 113 billion Moroccan dirhams ($12.235 billion) at the end of October 2025, exceeding the total figure for the whole of 2024, according to data provided by the North African country's Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy.

In the same period, from January to October, there has been a significant increase compared to 2024, with an additional 16 billion dirhams ($1.73 billion) this year, representing a 17% growth compared to the figures at the end of October 2024, as highlighted by the Ministry of Tourism.

Tourism is of great importance to the Moroccan economy, representing a significant portion of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The tourism sector currently accounts for 7.3% of the national GDP, with exponential growth in recent years; for example, in 2019 it accounted for 6.8% of the national wealth.

The positive increase in Moroccan tourism figures is linked to a significant rise in the number of tourist visits in 2025, with growth of 14% compared to last year, taking into account the period between January and October. This increase in visits is linked to the Moroccan State's strong commitment to tourism, with incentives and tourism promotion programmes, such as the famous campaign launched by the North African country under the title ‘Morocco, Land of Light’, launched more than two years ago and which has served to promote the North African country as a very attractive tourist destination, This is also linked to the already interesting tourist offer of the Moroccan kingdom in relation to many aspects such as the landscape, gastronomy, culture and varied leisure activities.

The promotion of the tourism sector will also be boosted by new attractions such as high-level sporting events such as the upcoming African Cup of Nations, which begins in December 2025, and the 2030 World Cup, hosted by Morocco, which will have a further positive impact on Moroccan tourism, meaning greater global visibility and significant economic revenue.

Morocco recently launched the promotional campaign ‘Morocco, Land of Football’, organised by the Moroccan National Tourist Office and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation to attract up to 800,000 visitors to the North African country for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, following in the footsteps of the successful ‘Morocco, Land of Light’ campaign, which has yielded such good results, as demonstrated by the high numbers of tourist visitors to the Moroccan kingdom in recent years.

"These results confirm our conviction: we are not looking for numbers for the sake of it. What we are looking for is precisely this type of growth, which generates higher foreign exchange earnings and, therefore, greater economic activity and more employment for Moroccans. And it is this trajectory that we will consolidate from 2026 onwards," explained the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatima-Zahra Ammor, as reported by the Moroccan news agency MAP.
